I have met Dr Jacobowitz during my years at NiH as young visiting scientist . Even I was working in a different section lab I have always been fascinated by Dave support of new ideas and exploration of innovative techniques to study brain anatomy and function. We became friends and I have the privilege to discuss with him many scientific projects. He and his wife Ilene visited me in Italy and I have a wonderful memory of the time we spent visiting the Amalfi coast. He was a wonderful human being, one the best scientist in his field worldwide. My condolonce to Ilene and the family. Andrea de Bartolomeis

My deepest sympathies. Dr. J was my supervisor for a summer when I was an undergraduate. He was a wonderful scientist and mentor, and I have very fond memories of that time. It was a privilege to learn from him.

In Memory and Honor of One of the Finest and Most Generous human beings one could ever know.
At age 22 our daughter Talia was doing original research work for DARPA helping amputees with artificial limbs because David alone saw her potential at age 16.
What a life to celebrate!

My condolences to Ilene and the family. Dave was absolutely the best mentor a young scientist could have; I owe him so much.
We shared many laughs from Dan Ackroyd and Steve Martin as the wild and crazy guys on SNL back in the 70's.

I only know David through his son, Rob, but I cannot imagine a brighter candle to ones spirit than to have created such a son to continue on. Peace and love to this precious family.

My sympathy to the whole wonderful family.
Dr. J provided an environment of learning and love. I remember him as a brilliant yet humble human being. I hope the family is comforted through their grief.

Dr J was one of the kindest and caring men I knew. He taught me so much and will always be in my heart. I will never forget his Michael Jackson glove for handling the rats which I then taught him that handling the rats (gentling) was better. He laughed at me and saw, in the end, it was better. Just a small anecdote. I loved him as the teacher he was, and will never forget him. My condolences to Ilene Jacobowitz and all his family. The world lost a great mind, a wonderful person.
