Reidsville Ñ David Edwin Liebmann, 79, of Reidsville, North Carolina, died Saturday, September 20, 2003 at home.
A family memorial service will be held at graveside on Friday morning, September 26, 2003 in Mayville, Michigan with graveside military honors.
David was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on September 22, 1923. His family moved to Miami, Florida in 1926 where he lived for over 50 years. He was an elder, deacon, and active lay member of Christian & Missionary Alliance churches in Miami; Jacksonville, Florida; Longview, Texas; and Reidsville. He served in a rifle company of the 120th Infantry Regiment of the 30th (Old Hickory) Infantry Division in the European Theater of Operations during World War II, earning the Combat Infantryman's Badge in actions around Aachen, during the Battle of the Bulge, in the Rhine River crossings, and the Rhineland Campaign, ending the war with the 30th at Magdeburg on the Elbe.
David is remembered as a loving husband and father, a faithful friend, and a servant of Jesus Christ. He is survived by his wife of over 60 years, Bessie, daughters Joyce Dunckel and husband Larry of Grand Blanc, Michigan; Marilyn Willard and husband Myles of Mayville, Michigan; Carolyn Dawson and husband Sam of Allen Park, Michigan; and son George Liebmann and wife Leslie of Reidsville. He leaves grandchildren Scott and Todd Dunckel, Ben and Marilyn Dawson, Amy (Liebmann) Gant, Katie, David, Christy, and Matthew Liebmann. He also leaves great-grandchildren Christopher and Ethan Dunckel and Nathan Gant.
In leiu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Mopeds for African Pastors Project Ñ Ivory Coast Ñ care of The Hour of Grace and Power, Box 400, Roseland, FL 32957.
