David Manning, born on March 23, 1951, in Troy, New York, passed away peacefully on January 3, 2025, in Nampa, Idaho, at the age of 73. David was the beloved son of Cecelia and Gordon Manning. On January 4, 1975, he married Deborah Manning, his devoted wife of nearly 50 years. Together, they built a loving family that includes their three children: Todd Lewis Manning; Eric David Manning and his wife, Jennifer; and Kristen Elizabeth Picard and her husband, John. David was a proud grandfather to five grandchildren: Aiden and his wife Yujin, Skye, Kayla, Max, and Cooper. At the age of 17, David began a distinguished career in the United States Army. He served his country with honor for 38 years, retiring in 2006 as a Master Sergeant and earning the prestigious Legion of Merit. Following his military service, he continued to make an impact as a JROTC instructor at the High School of Commerce in Springfield, Massachusetts. In Idaho, David remained dedicated to supporting veterans by volunteering at the Idaho Veterans Cemetery and assisting with ceremonies honoring those who served. He was also an active member of VFW Post 3465 and American Legion Post 2. His life was defined by patriotism and unwavering devotion to his family and community. David and Deborah's journey together spanned decades and continents. From their beginnings in Massachusetts to living in Connecticut, New York, Germany, and back to Massachusetts before retiring in Idaho, they embraced life's adventures. They enjoyed cruises around the world to destinations such as Italy, France, England, Greece, Spain, Belgium, the Netherlands, Russia, Alaska, Hawaii, and Norway-where they renewed their vows last summer. David was predeceased by his brother Edward Manning and sister Denise Manning. He is survived by his loving wife Deborah; his children and grandchildren; his sister Bernice; brothers Carmine and Joseph; and many dear friends and cherished family members. David's legacy of love and service will continue to inspire all who knew him. May his memory bring comfort to those who mourn his passing.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on February 1, 2025, at the Manning residence located at 3708 South Midland Boulevard in Nampa, Idaho. The VFW honor guard will provide military honors at the ceremony. David will be interred at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.

Dave and I used to work together at the 98th Division. He once asked me if I wanted to come in one day for extra work. He wanted someone to come in and stuff envelopes. I told him no. I wasn't interested in stuffing envelopes for him. It is my favorite memory of him!! He will be truly missed!!

When David first joined VFW Post 3465, I had the opportunity to spend some time with him while doing the Buddy Poppies at Walmart in Nampa. We had plenty of time to talk about our military careers and personal things about families. I was really impressed with his time in the Army and the stories of his career. He took.on the responsibility of being the Post Service Officer which he did very successfully. Dave will be missed by all who knew him. My heart goes out to his family and loved ones. Thank you for sharing him with us!

When I was 8 years old I traveled with my mom to attend the funeral of my great Aunt. I was nervous and alone being the only child there. David was 18. He asked me if I wanted to get some Icecream in between the services and boy DID I!! We drove in his green Volkswagen. I´ve had a fondness for green Volkswagens and my very thoughtful cousin David since then. Thank you for staying in my life David and Debbie I love you so much
