DAVID MERICLE Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Sep. 16 to Sep. 17, 2011.

DAVID MERICLE

INEZ - Benjamin "David" Mericle, 61, passed away unexpectedly and went to the Lord on Thursday, Sept. 15, 2011. He was born in Victoria on July 28, 1950 to the late Thelma and Benjamin Mericle. David and his wife, Sandy, celebrated their 37th wedding anniversary on Sept. 14, 2011. David leaves behind a family and close friends that will cherish the unconditional love and laughter he gave us. He will be deeply missed.
David was a great "debater" and was always willing to share his point of view with family and friends. He was a very thoughtful and caring man that would do anything for the loved ones in his life. He loved to place his grandchildren on his lap to spoil them with hugs and kisses and then take them outside for tractor rides and swinging under the oaks.
He worked for Halliburton Energy Services in Victoria and recently celebrated 37 years of service. He was loyal to his job and built deep friendships with many of his co-workers over the years.
In addition to his wife, Sandy, David is survived by daughter, Heather (Doug) Kornfuehrer of McKinney; sons, Shane (Jennifer) Mericle and Nick Mericle of Austin; sister, Carol McFarlin of McKinney; grandchildren, Simone Mericle, Téa Mericle, Harleigh Mericle, Brayden Mericle, and Arielle Mack; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his sister, Gale Davis, and brothers, Mark, Darryl and Farryl Mericle.
The family will receive friends from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, 2011 at Grace Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Glenn Schmidt officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Shane Mericle, Nick Mericle, Doug Kornfuehrer, Mike Tumlinson, J.C. Weber, Phil Martin and Wendell McFarlin.
Memorial donations can be made in David's memory to the American Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association.
Grace Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

David was a fine man. Our family lived down the street from him at 419 Taos and I remember he always used to shave his dog every summer. He took me fishing several times on his boat. One time I remember the most was when we were in POC and where in a group of large Bull Reds and loosing my favorite pole over the side of his boat while fighting another on an adjacent pole.

May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.
