David PORT Obituary
(Retired - Ottawa Fire Department)
Passed away at home on Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at the age of 65. Beloved husband of Ann. Proud and loving father of Shaun and Megan. Devoted son of Jean Port and the late John Port. Dear brother of Ron (Loretta) and Peter (Sheila). David will also be missed by his nephew Tyler (Jodi). Friends may call at the Garden Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 3440 Richmond Road (between Bayshore Drive and Baseline
Road), Nepean, on Friday, September 23rd from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral Service
will be held in the Chapel on Saturday at
9:30 a.m. with Interment to follow at Capital Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Ottawa Fire Fighters Community Foundation - Firefighter's Memorial, 101 - 865 Gladstone Avenue, Ottawa, ON K1R 7T4, or the Ottawa Humane Society, 245 West Hunt Club Road, Ottawa, ON K2E 1A8.

Dear Ann, Shaun and Megan,
I have just come across your Dad's death notice, Shaun and Megan, and I am both shocked and saddened to learn of his sudden passing. I remember him from church, from your school interviews which we shared, and from times when my husband and I used to cycle past your house. He was such a pleasant and chatty individual - always proud of his family. We pray that the many happy memories you have of him will provide you with comfort in the days ahead. We will be thinking of you all.

Sorry I can't make it to express my condolences in person and say good bye to David.
I remember in particular a drive that David and I took to Cornwall from Kanata for what else, the girls soccer game.
We shared some stories and a lot of laughs.
I will miss him.

Dave and I are so very saddened by David's death. He will remain an adoring father..so proud of Megan and Shaun,.. a loving husband who gave Ann the freedom to spread her wings and always come home to what felt right, a loving son and brother to his family..and a true and trusted friend. We will miss David, and although we cannot be with you tomorrow, will remember you all in our prayers.
Today I bowed my head, knowing David is well on his way and lite a candle in his memory at St. Sulpice in Montparnasse. God speed David Port.

I will remember David fondly as the cousin who always exchanged Christmas gifts with me when we were young, and charmed me with his playful teasing and gentleness. We've lost a great guy, too soon.

My goodness, I am so sorry to hear of David's passing. I know we haven't kept in touch , but do have some wonderful memories of some of our conversations. He used to tease why Adrianne always was in the front row for class pictures instead of Shaun ! Must be a conspiracy !!!
