David Rushlow Obituary
Having successfully accomplished the goals of this lifetime, David moved on toward his next challenge in September, 2010. Cited as one of "America's Best and Brightest" in national media, David's lifetime career included founding and serving as Creative Partner with one of the nation's more successful advertising agencies.
He was an accomplished graphic designer, writer, painter, photographer, and lyricist. He loved to ski, fish, and SCUBA dive. He was an avid horseman, boater and pilot who also served as mayor of Lazy Lake for ten terms. David traveled extensively throughout the United States, Europe, and Canada. As a young man, he was a champion swimmer who put his talent to good use as a lifeguard on Nantucket Island.
A 1965 graduate of Fort Lauderdale High School, he attended the University of Florida and earned his B.A. degree at Florida Atlantic University. Intelligent and well-read, David was especially proud of the large library amassed at his Islamorada, Florida home.
A celebration of David's life will be held in his honor on Monday, September 6, 2010 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 200 West Copans Road, Pompano Beach, Fl 33064.

I just learned of David's death and want to express my deepest condolences to Phil and Lee. With the strong bond the G3 three always had, I know this void in your hearts will be impossible to fill.

I just found out about David's death. Seeing his picture brought the biggest smile to my face because that's what he always gave to me. What fun we had back in the 70's in Ft. Lauderdale and Hollywood. His influence lasts a lifetime. My condolences to his family and the many other people who loved him.

Our deepest sympathy is extended to David's father, brother, and all members of his family. We were a year behind Dave at Lauderdale High, and the vivid memory I have was he was always watching out for us, much like an older brother would. We had some great times, and always knew we could count on Dave if we ever needed him...he had our backs, and we ( Neville Cutting, Toby Ellis, Biff Trimble and others ) always knew that.

Dave was the first friend that I made after moving to Florida with my family. I guess we were 15 because we were on foot in South Beach. We roamed the beach and were there for the last days of the coffee houses up by the Elbow Room. Our lives diverged and I lost touch with Dave, but he was always a friend.

Dave was a gem! I remember him from Head To Toe in Ft. Lauderdale during the 1970's and traveling to Key West and several other places. May God bless his loved ones. He was, as someone else posted, a free spirit.

We became close to the Rushlow's when they built their G-3 office building on 14th Street Causeway and were very impressed with how well Phil, David and Lee worked together. "What a Team" . We haven't seen David for many years but know what a joy he was to those around him. Our heartfelt sympathy to Phil and Lee.

Uncle David! Even though he wasn't tequnically my uncle, he is in my heart. Some of my best memories growing up were when he came to visit my dad or when we had family vacations visiting him. David was my Peter Pan, he always saw things so differently and seeing them threw his eyes was an incredable adventure. My husband and I knew David in the 70's, and we have very fond memories. Michael and David were able to reconnect at John's wedding and ride bikes together. We just never got to visit him in FL as intended. David was truly unique and has left us way too soon.

David, and David's life, was like an epic masterpiece tale, Shakesperian perhaps in that it ended tragically, although what we remember is not the end. Homer comes to mind, in that we have a hero, always searching, his life a journey, marked by great achievements, family loyalty, a true heart, enduring friendships, romance and love, humor and insight. This book, it seems to me, nobody got to read from cover to cover. Each one of us were allowed to read chapters, sometimes consecutive, sometimes separated, always the best book we've ever read, and we all thirst for the next page. I think today we will each get a glimpse into the pages we never read as we exchange stories, and laugh and cry together.
The chapters I have are called "Uncle" and they span 40 years. David, you helped to form who I am, and I will never forget all that you gave me, including my nickname that was special between you and me. I know you loved me and my family with all of your heart.
I know that your Heaven has a salt shaker on every table, a diner on every corner, a joke told every minute (yes, even dirty ones!), an interesting artifact in every crevice, Laurel and Hardy in every theater, beautiful art on every wall, and of course all of your family that awaited your arrival, including your most precious shining star, Gaga.
I know I will see you again, David. I love you.

David was very impressionable to me when I worked at G3. I was fortunate to have worked closely with him and his teams for four years. As well, I got to know him as a person and was inspired by insights he shared with me. I learned how to solve problems through a creative approach, to read people and understand what drives them, and how to connect with their thinking. He was a voracious reader and could talk about any subject and always had a great story to tell an audience. He made a difference and changed many lives. His ideas and creative inspiration was moving and memorable. Those times I've carried with me and am all the better for it.

This note is for David's Dad and David's brother. I new David for a short three years. Once in a while I would catch him at lunch with Dr. Strand, Dr. Kitson, and Phil. He was so interesting on many many subjects and we both enjoyed bridging a gap. We were the Young guys and helped those older fellas ...80ish... to maintain their grip on what riviting eye opening event or product may be around the corner or happened just last week. His seat will never be filled.
