David Shurden Obituary

TUPELO – David Lewis Shurden, 64, died Tuesday, September 2, 2014, at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo. He was born in Lee County on March 17, 1950, to Charles Othelle Shurden and Mary Lewis Ezelle Shurden. A lifelong resident of Tupelo, David was self-employed as a plumber at Quality Plumbing for more than 30 years. He was a Civil War re-enactor for more than 30 years, and he also enjoyed gardening and fishing. David was passionate about theatre, as was demonstrated by his involvement in the Tupelo Community Theatre and the Mississippi College theatre program.
A celebration of life service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, September 6, 2014, at the Tupelo Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors with Don Allen Ezelle delivering the eulogy. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park. Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Tupelo Chapel.
Survivors include his sons, Andrew Lewis Shurden (Mary) of Fort Lewis, Wash., and Nathan Lowe of Blue Mountain; his daughter, Merri Megan Shurden of Tupelo; his brother, Ronnie Shurden (Nancy) of Tupelo; a grandchild, Turner Lewis Shurden of Fort Lewis, Wash. He is preceded in death by his parents.
Pallbearers will be Rob Snapp, Mike Rushton, Mike Harper, Jerry Stephens, Mark Jelks and Andrew Lewis Shurden.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Parkway Baptist Church, 1302 Lee St., Tupelo, MS 38804. Condolences may be emailed to [email protected].
