I first met Dave when he joined the Entomology /Zoology faculty at SDSU in 1976. I soon discovered this thoughtful guy with a ready smile and a great sense of humor was a gifted scientist and a remarkable field entomologist. RIP, my friend.

Whenever we attended a family gathering with Dave, he and Ralph had a great time exchanging stories about their hunting farming and fishing experiences. He was always so knowledgeable and enjoyed having a "co-father in law" who shared his interests.

David and I were sitting next to each other at our granddaughter's (Sydney's) high school graduation, I asked about his family and his face lit up and he began talking about his mother and father, his brother's, himself and their lives, his children, and how intelligent and caring Sydney was. We talked and laughed together through the graduation procession of our granddaughter.
