David beloved husband of Elaine Wharton of Calgary, AB, passed away on December 2, 2014 at the age of 72 years. David was a wonderful Friend, Excellent Physician, Devoted Husband & Father. He Graduated from the University of Alberta in Medicine in 1966. He moved to Calgary with his new wife Elaine and was in the first residency program for Family Physicians at the Calgary General Hospital. David was a Family Physician for forty-two years in private practice as well as on staff at the Holy Cross Hospital and the Rockyview General Hospital. He enjoyed learning the latest in medicine even after he retired in 2008. David loved discussions and debates with anyone about any topic at any time. He loved to travel and collected cameras. David enjoyed working on various home projects in his garage. He was an active member of Southwood United Church. David will be remembered for the love of his pets; dog Hershey and cat Dennis who already miss him dearly. David is survived by his loving wife of fourty-eight years Elaine Wharton; daughters Tracy (Stan) Siudy of Calgary, Dorene (Troy Young) Wharton of Toronto; son, Tom (Jenice) Wharton of Calgary/Blackfalds; grandsons, Spencer and Zac Siudy of Calgary. David was predeceased by his parents Gwendolyn Wharton and John (Jack) Wharton of Calgary. The family would like to thank the Foothills Hospital Emergency, Neurosurgery, ICU and Calgary Metro EMS for excellent care during his traumatic brain injury. In lieu of flowers please send a donation to Calgary Health Trust in support of the Rockyview General Hospital. Funeral Services will be held at Southwood United Church (10690 Elbow Drive SW Calgary T2W 1G4) on Monday, December 8, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. In living memory of David, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park.

Elaine and Family we are so heart broken over Dr. Wharton's early passing. He had so much more to do. We loved him as our family doctor and as a friend for 30 years. His compassionand love for those under his care was compared to none.May he rest peacefully in the arms of our loving God.
