David Zlotnick Obituary

ZLOTNICK, David A., M.D. FAAP-- in Palo Alto on February 5, 2002 at age 64. Husband of Caroline; father of Bradley (& Jeanne) and Gregory; grandfather of Hanna and Aaron; brother of Howard. He practiced as a pediatrician in Palo Alto where he touched thousands of lives and was loved by his patients and their families. Dr. Zlotnick was admired and respected by his colleagues. Born in Bronx, NY, he graduated from Columbia University and Stanford University Medical School. Served as a Lt. Commander, U.S. Navy Medical Corps, and was stationed at the Oak Knoll Naval Hospital, Oakland, during the Vietnam War.
Member of the Northern California Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics, serving as Chairman and was on the Continuing Education Committee for many years. Member of the Santa Clara County Medical Assoc., American Medical Assoc. An important part of his life and commitment to children was his involvement with Interplast, a Mountain View organization that provides reconstructive surgery in less developed countries, mainly for children with birth defects and burns.
He served as the organization's President, Secretary of the Board and on various committees for many years. He spoke Spanish and served as an interpreter as well as a pediatrician on numerous trips to Mexico and Central and South America. He was an accomplished amateur photographer and an active member of the Palo Alto Camera Club.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 8th at 10:00 a.m. at Congregation Beth Am, 26790 Arastradero Rd., Los Altos, with burial to follow at Alta Mesa Cemetery, Palo Alto. Contributions to Interplast, David Zlotnick Endowed Fund, 300B Pioneer Way, Mountain View, CA 94041. SINAI MEMORIAL CHAPEL.
