Dawn Victoria Cantwell-Jones, 66, passed away on February 23, 2025, in Quantico, Maryland.

Born on November 7, 1958, in Salisbury, Maryland, Dawn was a woman of remarkable strength, passion and beauty. She was an entrepreneur at heart and founded Lacey's Restaurant in 1987, creating a beloved establishment that reflected her love for hospitality and great food. Prior to that, she played a vital role in Richard Cantwell Inc., Masonry Contractor, working alongside her first husband, Richard Cantwell Sr., for 37 years until his passing in 2002.

In 2004, Dawn remarried Lonnie Thomas Jones, with whom she shared a love for travel and adventure. Together they explored places such as Panama, Mexico and more. She was a dedicated wife and mother whose warmth and generosity touched the lives of many. Her daughter, Lacey Robinson, and her three cherished grandchildren-Justina Simms, Athena Simms, and Craig Brian Simms-were the center of her world.

Dawn had an undeniable zest for life. She loved fishing trips with her late husband Richard and found joy in cooking-her culinary skills were nothing short of spectacular.A trendsetter with an impeccable eye for style, she had a natural talent for decorating and arts and crafts. Hosting gatherings brought her immense happiness; she thrived on bringing people together and creating unforgettable moments filled with laughter and joy.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Shirley Bounds James and Billy Bounds; her stepfather, Cody James; her sister, Robin Bennett;her first husband, Richard Cantwell Sr.; and her last husband Lonnie Thomas Jones.

Dawn was vibrant, strong-willed, and radiated beauty inside and out. Her presence could light up any room-the party never truly started until she arrived. She was fiercely loving and giving as a mother, wife, grandmother, sister, and friend. Her lively energy and sweet smile will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

May her memory bring comfort to those who loved her.
