March 5, 1918 ~ December 21, 2012
WWII Veteran, Retired RCAF
Retired Carleton University
Peacefully, after a brief illness, at the Ottawa General Hospital at the age of 94. Dean is predeceased by his wife Margaret. Loved father of Robert (Diane) of Red Deer, Alberta, Douglas (Barbara Lamb) of Ottawa, Alan (Marie) of Carleton Place, and Marla of Ottawa. He will be missed by his grandchildren Deana, Tara, Carrie, Shawn, Melissa, Chris, Jason, Angeline, and 10 great- grandchildren. A heartfelt thank you to the staff at the Perley and Rideau Veterans Home (Rideau 1 North) for their kindness and compassionate care for Dad over the years. Many thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff at the Ottawa General Hospital, 5th floor. As per Dean's wishes, cremation will take place with a private family inurnment. Funeral arrangements entrusted to CAPITAL MEMORIAL CHAPEL & VISITATION CENTRE (613-692-1211). As an expression of sympathy, donations to the Perley and Rideau Veterans Health Centre "Rideau 1 North" would be appreciated.

Dean was a great storyteller,bringing humour and kindness to our visits at the Perley Rideau. I will miss him very much and send heartfelt condolences to all of his loved ones. May your memories bring you comfort at this time and always.

I don't know Mr. Manship. I regularly look at the obituaries. I am really struck by his photograph. He appears to be a wise and intelligent man. My condolences to the family and friends.
