Mark Duane McCoy, 62, passed away unexpectedly at his residence on April 3, 2023. Per his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. Mark will be laid to rest at Rock Island National Cemetery. A celebration of Mark's life will take place at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the family. Mark McCoy was born on June 4, 1960 to parents Norma Adams and James (Terry) McCoy in Portland, OR. Mark attended Bradley High School in Cleveland, TN then later graduated from Davenport Central High School after moving to Iowa in 1976. Following graduation, Mark enlisted in the United States Navy where he spent seven years in the service. In his later years, he was active with the VA Outreach group.
In Mark's free time, he enjoyed watching the Cubs and spending time with his nephews. Every year, he looked forward to attending the Mississippi Fair with his mother, Norma.
Mark was dealt a tough hand in life, but he will always be remembered as a loving uncle, brother, and son.
Those left to carry on Mark's memory include his parents, Norma Adams and James (Terry) McCoy; step-father, Tony LaMantia; sister Lisa (Thomas) Stoffers and nephews, Andrew Martens, Jeffrey Stoffers, and Matthew Stoffers.
Mark was preceded in death by his grandmother Virginia Hansen, aunts Cheryl Hall and Pearl Welch, and a dog Samantha who he cherished.
