DEBORAH ABBOTT Obituary
Deborah Abbott passed away on Thursday, April 23rd, 2015 at the age of 61. Debbie was born in Woodland on December 11, 1953 to Frederick and Harriett Abbott. She attended Woodland Schools where she lived her entire life and graduated from Woodland High in 1972. She received her associate's degree from Napa Junior College and went on to work at UC Davis where she soon advanced to become an Academic Advisor. Debbie's unique ability to bring the best out of people made her an exceptional advisor. She received the highest of honors from UCD and was very well respected within the University of California system. She recently retired after 37 years.
Debbie enjoyed a good glass of chardonnay, running, snow skiing, and anything under the sun that had to do with friends and family. Debbie was well known by her family and friends as a 'social butterfly' where she seemed to lite up any room. She especially loved attending her children's events and supporting their every move.
Debbie is survived by her sister, Judy Bailard and husband Fred of Woodland; brother, Bruce Abbott and wife Dawn of Esparto; brother, Fred Abbott and wife Reene of Colfax; daughter, Jamie Hawke of Elk Grove; son, Bobby Hawke and wife Summer of San Jose. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, one great niece, and many wonderful friends.
A celebration of life is scheduled for 5:30, Thursday, May 14th at Windmill Farm and Vineyards; 34254 County Road 19, Woodland CA 95695. The family requests memorial gifts in Debbie's memory to Yolo Hospice; 1909 Galileo Court, Suite A, Davis CA 95618.

As today - 2025-04-23 - marks the tenth 'Angelversary' of Deborah Abbott, I am honoring her memory by watching the DVD of the 1971 Mel Stuart cinematic adaptation of Roald Dahl's 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory' (AKA 'Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory'). This particular cinematic iteration of Roald Dahl's 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory' was Deborah's favorite. [FYI, 'Angelversary' is a portmanteau of Angel + anniversary.]

On the fourth anniversary of Deborah S. Abbott's passing, i watched the 1971 Mel Stuart adaptation of Roald Dahl's 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory' 'Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory' starring the late Gene Wilder as a means to remember her. This particular iteration of 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory' was Deborah's favorite. i even once shared with Deborah that i happen to like Seth MacFarlane's parody of 'Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory' as featured in an episode of 'Family Guy' entitled 'Wasted Talent.' FYI, Seth MacFarlane is the creator/executive producer of 'Family Guy.'

I had many good times playing wallyball for beer with her on Friday nights at the club. She was a sweetheart; full of life. I'm going to miss her.

There is absolutely no doubt that Debbie's vivaciousness lit up the lives of those whom she met throughout her life, including that of yours truly. Of course, I will never forget a farewell luncheon in July 2007 at the old Baker's Square in Davis, CA in which Debbie and several of her fellow academic advisors from the College of Biological Sciences of the University of California - Davis got together to bid 'adieu' to yours truly as I was about to move back to Anaheim, CA after residing in Davis, CA for several years. Although I have never met either Bobby or Jamie, I would truly like to offer them my heartfelt condolences over the loss of their beloved mother.

I am truly saddened to hear of Debbie's death. I have many fond memories of her from high school, and from when our paths would cross in the years since, often in the grocery store. It was always a treat to see her and be greeted by her warm smile and sincere friendship. She is deeply missed. My heartfelt sympathies to her family.

Debbie and I met while working at UC Davis...had many interactions with her over many years. She was always so bubbly and positive - always had a smile on her face. I am saddened to read of her passing. My sympathy goes out to all of her family - she will truly be missed.
