From my airport days with Donald George, ex East-West i am guessing 1986

I worked at Sydney Airport for Avis for many years in the 1980's. Being English and back in the UK loads of Brexit things about Ireland on our news and the name Minahan came up which made me google Debbie. I was devastated to learn of her passing. I would love to hear more about her life if anyone could let me know i would be very grateful. Having not seen Debbie since i left, i tried to find her on my last couple of visits down-under. Those who i am back in contact with, had no idea what happened to Debbie. George Proos had no idea either.
What a great gal she was, always enthusiastic about life. She was like a breath of fresh air. I can recall on one occasion, during the dark winter nights, we were working early shifts. It was only when Debbie arrived into the office to collect her tray etc that we all pointed and laughed at her attire. Debbie had her sister and children staying over and she shared her bedroom with them, so she had to get dressed in the dark. That would explain why accompanying her bright red Avis uniform why she was wearing emerald green tights. She looked like a Christmas tree gone wrong!
Another great memory was one Sunday morning, following a late night, Debs was working at what was the TAA terminal. On Sunday morning there were no flights until, from memory, 1.15.pm. Having a had a heavy night and not much sleep, Debs of course fell asleep and got woken up by a customer. She thought that she had better dob herself in before the customer did!
She had such great energy. I have no doubt that she is hugely missed.

Deb came into my life many years ago when I started working for Avis rent a car at Sydney Airport. It was my first full time job and Deb was given the task of training me. What I didn't know then was that she would teach me far more than how to rent a car. Deb taught me how to live and enjoy life.
Over the years her advice and support helped shape my life. Deb always knew the right thing to say and when to say it. She was a truly wonderful friend.
There are so many things about Deb I will miss, especially her amazing laugh. Whenever she laughed it seemed to make everything okay in the world. I am so grateful to have had her in my life.

Deb and I had a friendship that spanned 35 years. There are many, many memories but what I will miss most is her sense of humour, her wit and her intellect. She had so many talents; I don't think many people would know that she could do fantastic oil paintings, was a great seamstress and a great hostess. She would research a topic thoroughly and her diagnosis of breast cancer was no different. She new all the latest research & could go toe to toe with the professors on her prognosis. She challenged the treatments being offered and put all she had into the fight to recover and extend her life. She was one classy lady who always looked stylish even if she was just wearing a t-shirt and jeans. I will miss her always. Diane
