Debra Kerby Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Sep. 15 to Sep. 16, 2020.
Kerby, Debra Ann Saginaw Twp., Michigan. It is with immense sadness that we announce the death of our beloved Debra Ann Kerby, who passed away unexpectedly on Friday September 11, 2020. Age 66 years. Daughter of the late Kenneth R. and Ruth E. (Kohloff) Furtaw, Debra was born December 21, 1953 in Saginaw, Michigan. She attended Douglas MacArthur High School and graduated in 1972. Debi began working at Michigan Bell in 1974 where she retired after 30 years of service. This is where she met the love of her life Thomas B. Kerby. They were married in Saginaw on July 23, 1983. Together they lived in the Saginaw area where they raised their two daughters, Ashley and Amy Kerby. Debi had a love for Houghton Lake, Michigan ever since she worked at her Aunt Ellie's Resort on the lake, where she met most of her lifelong friends. Debi and Tom purchased their first cabin on the lake in 1999, where they created lifelong memories with each other, their daughters and their grandchildren, Addisyn and Jack. Debi loved her entire family. She loved working in her garden, watching and feeding the birds and squirrels, and most of all she had a great love for eagles. Debi also loved her pets very much, Beau, Papa Bear, Fred and her most recent rescue Squirt. Debi had a very special bond with her granddaughter Addisyn including many adventures up north. Debi has left an unbearable void in our lives. Debi is survived by her husband of 37 years, Tom Kerby, two daughters, Ashley and Amy Kerby, two grandchildren, Addisyn and Jack, all of Saginaw; her brother, Jim Furtaw and his significant other Kathy Polaski, Midland; many lifelong friends; and her grand dogs, Henry and Charlie. Funeral Service will take place 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 18, 2020 at the Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center (between Shattuck and McCarty). Chaplain Lon Cook will officiate with burial in St. Andrew Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home, where the family will be present on Thursday from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Friday 10:00 a.m. until time of service. In accordance with State mandate ordinances the limitations of number gathered and safe distancing will be observed.
