Debra Tucci Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 23, 2025.
Debra Ann Tucci (née Perry), 72, passed away peacefully on June 14, 2025, in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania. Born on February 24, 1953, in Portland, Maine, Debra's life was marked by faith, devotion, and quiet strength.

In 1971, she married her high school sweetheart, John A. Tucci. Together they built a life centered on family. She welcomed her son, Jay Tucci, in 1972 and later her daughter, Deanna Wells. During this time, Debra worked as a cook at Oak Grove-Coburn School in Vassalboro, Maine-a position she held until the school's closure in 1989. These years brought her a deep sense of purpose and fulfillment.

Debra earned her bachelor's degree from Franklin Pierce University in New Hampshire, an accomplishment she carried with pride throughout her life.

Her spiritual home was Sturtevant Chapel in Keene, where she raised her daughter and found lasting fellowship. Her faith extended beyond the church through mission trips that were especially meaningful to her-particularly those to Haiti-which brought renewal and inspiration during her later years.

Known affectionately as Debbie to many, she expressed love through cooking and baking, often using food as a way to nurture and connect with others. In retirement, she returned to Maine and reconnected with longtime friends through scrapbooking and community gatherings. She was an active member of The Kris Luba Club of Vassalboro and treasured the memories made with dear companions.

Debra is lovingly remembered by her children: Jay Tucci and Deanna Wells; her grandchildren: Jacob Tucci, Ryan Tucci, Oliver Wells, Emmett Wells, and Asher Wells; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and godchildren.

Debbie's generous spirit and steadfast faith leave a lasting legacy. May her memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her.

A memorial service will be posted later in August.

I have so many memories. It's hard to know where to start. I remember loving to brush her hair when I came to spend the summer. I remember when she took me to the drive in movies with her boyfriend to see jaws ( I'm still terrified of water and sharks to this day, lol!). I remember lightning storms and going to Friendly's in South Portland. She (and Johnny) introduced me to my first (platonic) love, Paul. We were pregnant together - when she was pregnant with Deanna (affectionately referred to as Nani), I was pregnant with Kody... I remember she and Johnny babysitting us when Mom and Dad went off on a trip to Canada and Johnny almost shooting the neighbor's Newfoundland dog thinking it was a bear, one night. She was there for several important rites of passage. She showed me how to decorate cakes and make a killer lasagna. She was a second mother. She was never far from my thoughts and always in my heart. And she loved her children fiercely, even when they didn't want it or didn't know it. Oh how I miss her laugh. I know she's where she she's supposed to be, but it still hurts like hell... sorry Deb. Love you to the moon...and back. XOXOXOXO
