In Loving Memory of Debra Kay Young

July 5, 1970 - July 16, 2025

With heavy hearts, we announce the sudden and tragic passing of our beloved daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, Debra Kay Young, age 55. Born at Broward General Hospital in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and raised in Tamarac, Debra was a proud native Floridian whose warmth, generosity, and laughter touched countless lives.

Debra had a passion for life and family. She shared cherished travel adventures with her mother to many places, creating treasured memories along the way. Her love for animals was unmistakable, and her 7-year-old dog, Cassie, was truly her "baby girl."

A woman of many talents and heart, Debra began her hospitality career at Disney, later working with Hilton and Marriott, Seminole Coconut Creek Casino where her joy for serving others shone through. She also worked at PetSmart, offering pet care advice, and proudly ran her own pet sitting company. Debra studied dog grooming and was deeply committed to helping animals and their humans alike.

She had a contagious laugh-always the biggest and loudest in the room-and a heart of gold, often helping those in need. Debra loved hosting family dinners; her chicken parmesan and ribs were legendary. She played softball as a child and mentored young players in her community. She was especially proud of her nephews-Dylan & Joshua for their academic achievements, including graduating with master's degrees.

Debra is survived by her loving parents, Dale and Sharon Young; her brother, Dale Jr., and his wife, Patricia; her nephews, Dylan, Joshua, and Holden; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who will miss her deeply.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to The Pet Project: https://www.thepetprojectfl.org/donate.html

"Wherever a beautiful soul has been, there is a trail of beautiful memories." Debra's spirit will continue to shine brightly in the lives she touched.

Please share a favorite Memory.

Debra touched so many with her laughter, kindness, and vibrant spirit. If you have a favorite story, special moment, or photo that reminds you of her, we invite you to share it. Whether it's a tale of her famous chicken parmesan, a road trip memory, or a time her laugh lit up the room-we'd love to read about the joy she brought into your world. Let's celebrate her life by collecting the laughter, love, and legacy she leaves behind.

I'm sad to know that such a fine woman is gone, but happy she's with our Lord. I have been blessed to have many memories and fun times with Debbie. As a child/teenager playing softball, a New Year's celebration that had us laughing like crazy in the park, we lived in Orlando at the same time for a bit, where she'd bring me trays of Rice Crispy treats, long talks and she was a bridesmaid in my wedding. She was kind, thoughtful, generous, and never met a stranger. She had an infectious laugh and smile that would brighten any room. I pray for the family's strength and peace.
