Denice Jennings

Denice Jennings April 10, 1971 - December 9, 2013 Denice Jennings is survived by her loving and devoted immediate family: Father- George Jennings of Florida; Mother-Joyce Evans and husband Richard; Sister - Angela Townley and husband Michael and nephew Aidan; Grandfather-Walter E. Figel Sr. all of New Jersey; and, Stepchildren - Ethan LeVering and Sage Stanton of Eureka. Denice traveled to the West Coast and lived in Eureka for most of the past 12 years. She worked during that time at the North Coast Co-Op and the Mattole Salmon Group part time until her fulltime career thrust began in properly raising and providing a nurturing environment for her two stepchildren to whom she was devoted. Denice was an East Coast girl for most of her life: born in Somerville, NJ; graduated from Hillsborough High School (Hillsborough, NJ Class of 1989); attended Somerset County Vo-Tech for dance; attended Moore College of Art in Center City Philadelphia PA and graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Center City Philadelphia, PA. After her secondary art schooling, she continued to reside in Philadelphia PA. for several more years. Also, Denice was an avid Philadelphia Eagles fan. In her short life of 42 years, Denice did accomplish so many things that were important to her. One fulfilled dream was that she traveled throughout the US following the Grateful Dead to attend many of their concerts. She was an avid fan of Jerry Garcia and much of her early artwork conveyed her love of music, Garcia, the Dead and concert going. Another fulfilled dream was that of living the beach scene as she did for some time on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. The last dream Denice fulfilled occurred at the North Coast Dance in Eureka where on her 40th birthday she performed Pointe Ballet in a performance at the Arkley Center for the Performing Arts It was one of her proudest moments . Sadly, Denice's life journey ended quietly in the still of the night in Eureka, yet we know her inner and outer beauty will always shine brilliantly from the heavens above. A star in the sky, named "Denice's Diamond" now exists to memorialize our Denice and to remember all her goodness, her sacrifices and her caring and nurturing of so many things, especially for her two stepchildren and her many dogs and cats. Her loving family will always remember Denice for her warm smile and her free spirit lifestyle . A memorial celebration of Denice's life is planned for January in New Jersey.
