Denise Carroll Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 29, 2024.
Denise Jacoby Carroll, 59, of Mount Airy, PA, passed away peacefully early on Saturday, July 27th, 2024. She was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.

Denise was born on May 30th, 1965 to Rosalie and Frank Jacoby. She attended Holy Cross and then Bishop McDevitt High School, and made many of her lifelong friends during her childhood years.

Denise worked at McNally's in Chestnut Hill and alongside one of her best friends at Apple Annie's where she was famous for making the world's best croutons and Caesar salad. Denise was also a dedicated volunteer at her children's schools, Our Mother of Consolation and St. Genevieve's and a familiar face at the Spring and Fall Festivals in Chestnut Hill, where she delighted in handing out tickets to children for games and rides.

Denise was known for her love of game nights, especially Rummikub and Presidents, movie classics like the Wizard of Oz and the Sound of Music, and watching her children enjoy life. She was their biggest cheerleader, and was happiest laughing alongside them. Whether sitting on the dock up the mountains on Lake Wallenpaupack or with her feet in the sand in Margate, Denise found her greatest joy in being surrounded by family and friends with a Miller Lite in her hand and creating new memories.

Denise made everyone feel welcome and loved. She would offer you a cold Miller Lite, one of her cozy blankets, and even the shirt off her back. Despite years of quietly battling arthritis and bone disease, Denise continued to bravely laugh through the pain and enjoy her life to the fullest.

Denise leaves behind her devoted husband, James Carroll, and their loving children: Thomas (Lauren), Kelly, Molly and Grace. She was a proud and loving grandmother to her grandson, Colin. Denise was the beloved sister of Vincent Jacoby (Jane), Diane Dyer (John), David Jacoby (Patti), Dennis Jacoby (Amy), Donna Boyle (Biddy), and Doreen Burke (James), who held a special place in her heart. She was also adored by her many nieces and nephews, whose lives she touched deeply with her friendship and love.

A viewing will be held on Thursday evening, August 1st, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Our Mother of Consolation Church in Chestnut Hill, PA. On Friday morning, August 2nd, a viewing will be held from 10:00 am to 10:45 am at Our Mother of Consolation Church, with the funeral mass following at 11:00 am. Immediately following mass, internment will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Wyncote.

Denise's warmth and kindness will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her legacy of love and generosity will live on in the hearts of her family and friends. In lieu of flowers, her family asked that you consider donating to the Kevin Supka Foundation, a charity founded in memory of Denise's late brother-in-law. The foundation's purpose is to support entrepreneurs who show ambition and a zest for life, much like Denise did.

Denise I have very fond memories.... growing up in Mt.Airy most knew of the big family on Mount pleasant avenue whose names all began with "D"(except one) and we later refreshed a relationship at McNally's; to this day I employee your Italian wedding soup recipe which you so generously shared with me in the late '80s... We had many good meetings- conversations- parties-bbq's and hilarious encounters.... I Will remember you! Many condolences to your family.

Denise always was smiling and made you laugh. She shared her love of life with everyone around her and you always felt better when seeing her. She had a fuller life than most of the people I know. It saddens me that she is gone but I can´t stop smiling when I think of her.

I will always remember how kind of a heart Denise had. She was always there with an ear to listen, a shoulder to cry on, a hug if needed and a laugh all the time. I will deeply miss her, her laugh and her exuberant kindness.

She was my first playmate. She introduced me to playing church, for which our parents deemed us sacrilegious, and Monopoly, at which she cheated shamelessly. To this day whenever I say or hear someone say "How bout it", I say/hear it in her voice. I loved laughing with her, drinking with her, and getting roasted by her. She was a true original who had a far harder life than she deserved, and faced it with more good humor than would most, in her shoes. Farewell, cuz. You will be deeply, deeply missed.

Dee and I met on rummykub on line, I was living in Milwaukee and one of my best friends there had a stroke and couldn't play any more so my husband found the rummykub site on line. I met a lot of really good friends here but Dee and I seemed more like sisters. We used to play until 2 or 3 in the morning. We laughed so much and so hard! Now I live in the Black Hills of SD, I always hope she and the girls could come out for a visit. I'm going to miss her terribly.

Every time Aunt Denise laughed, we would all laugh along with her! I will always remember sitting around the table for game nights at Devon Street, listening to Crosby, Stills, & Nash, drinking Miller Lites, and just laughing.
