Dennis Woodrow Conner, 82, widower of Jean (Lunsford) Conner, of Beulah Land Drive, died on Sunday, August 7, 2011, at Blue Ridge Christian Home.

He was born on February 14, 1929, in Greenville, a son of the late Harry and Lectie (Lucas) Conner.

Mr. Conner was a veteran of the United States Army having served in Korea.

Prior to retirement, he was employed by DuPont with 45 years of service.

He was one of the founders and a life member of the Raphine Volunteer Fire Company, a member of the Steeles Tavern V.F.W. Post #8279, and a member of Old Providence ARP Church.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Jesse, Walter, Earl T., and Boots Conner; and four sisters, Mildred D. Conner, Viola Willis, Bessie Conner, and Kathleen Conner.

Family members include a daughter and son-in-law, Talitha C. and Joe Davis of Raphine; a grandson, Joseph H. Davis, III; a granddaughter, Christina Moore and her husband, Johnny Moore; a brother, Homer Conner of Greenville; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, August 11, 2011, at Old Providence ARP Church by the Reverend H. Max Bolin.

The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, August 10, 2011, at the Henry Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the Raphine Volunteer Fire Company, P.O. Box 142, Raphine, VA 24472 or to the Old Providence ARP Church, c/o Jackie Coffey, 1005 Spottswood Road, Spottswood, VA 24475.
