Died: February 2, 2021
PERU – On Tuesday, February 2, 2021, Dennis "Denny" Glenn Shaver went home to be with his Lord at the age of 72.
He was the son of Glenn and Irene (Bonnuci) Shaver. He married Judy Emmert on June 10, 1967.They raised 3 sons.
Denny worked in the propane field for more than 40 years both in LaSalle and Arthur, Illinois. He liked to hunt mushrooms, fish and was always involved in school activities as their sons grew up.
His family was very important to him. When Denny came to know the Lord, he was passionate about it from the start. He and Judy served at Mendota First United Methodist Church and after moving to Spring Valley became active at Grace United Methodist Church in LaSalle. Denny served as a lay speaker, Bible study leader, Sunday school teacher and led several healing services. He and Judy loved to get to church early to have coffee and donuts set up when the folks arrived. They continued that same passion to serve when they later became members of Servant's Heart Fellowship. Denny loved the Lord and studying His Word.
Denny is survived by his wife, Judy of Peru; their three sons, Michael (Robin) Shaver of Peru, Scott (Stephanie) Shaver of Spring Valley and Brian (Jeni) Shaver of Lostant; nine grandchildren, Colleen Moutria, Jodi Fauke, Stephen Shaver, Sierah Shaver, Ethan Shaver, Corbin Shaver, Mya Shaver, Rylen Shaver and Nya Shaver; eight great-grandchildren; and five great-great- grandchildren. His brother Doug Shaver also survives, as do several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A celebration of life will be held on Monday, February 8, 2021 at 11 a.m. at Servant's Heart Fellowship 2901 N. Peoria Street, Peru. Burial will follow at Wisner Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour before the service. Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota is assisting the family.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Servant's Heart Fellowship.
Donations will be divided between the American Diabetes Association and the church.

Denny was such a wonderful man of faith. He always demonstrated his love of
Christ as he led our healing services and represented First United Methodist Church of Mendota at district and conference meetings. I learned so much at our Bible studies. Judy, please know that we were a different congregation while you and Denny were active members with us. We have missed you and send our sympathy to you and your family.
