Fox, Diane J. GERMANTOWN Diane Jenny Fox, 59, of Germantown, and RN, BS, MS, clinical nurse specialist, died Monday, March 15, 2010 at Vassar Brothers Hospital in Poughkeepsie after a long battle with cancer. Diane was born May 9, 1950 in Hudson. She was the daughter of Marguerite (Hoffman) Riter of Germantown and the late Michael Stephen Riter. Diane graduated from the Germantown Central School in 1968. She was a graduate of Dutchess Community College with a associate's degree in applied science, and St. Francis College in Brooklyn where she graduated with a bachelor of science. She graduated from the Roswell Park Memorial Institute with a degree in enterostomal therapy, Sage Colleges in Troy where she received a master's degree in science and as a clinical nurse specialist and, until illness forced her to put aside her education, she matriculated into the doctorate of nursing science program of Sage Colleges in Troy. She worked for 32 years at Benedictine Hospital in Kingston as the director (clinical nurse specialist) of G.I./endoscopy unit which she founded. She taught on the adjunct faculty at Dutchess Community College in their nursing program; she was the nurse manager at the Bruggeman Center of Ellis Hospital in Schenectady and, prior to her illness, she was a private consultant for outcome based quality improvement with the Columbia County Department of Health. She was certified in would ostomy and continent practice, board certified gastrointestinal clinician and register nurse. She lectured from coast to coast in the United States and in Russia on gastroenterology practices. She and her husband, George, owned and operated the Yadack-Fox Funeral Home of Germantown. Survivors in addition to her mother are her husband George Fox who she married in Rhinebeck, December 6, 1985; one son and daughter-in-law, John and Maryann Fox of Hyde Park; three brothers, Michael Riter of Hudson, Byron (Kathy) Riter of Elizaville, Stephen Riter of Germantown; two sisters, Julie (John) Meacher and Susan (Michael) Riter-Bufi, all of Germantown; grandchildren, Amber Fox, Courtney Fox and Michael Fox, all of Hyde Park; her brother and sister-in-law, Raymond and Nancy Moore of Germantown; one aunt, Jeannine Mitchell of Chicago; her special friend, Fr. Theodore Gerken of Germantown; and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 19 at Yadack-Fox Funeral Home of Germantown. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Reformed Church of Germantown. The Rev. David Tipple and the Rev. Mark Frickey will co-officiate.
