Diane M. Gregalis

Dennis, MA & Palm City, FL

Age 82.

Born in North Adams to parents Raymond H. and Margaret (Felix) Deraway. Diane was proud of her Scottish, Irish, Dutch and French heritage. Diane is a descendant of Sir James Douglas of Scotland, who was a nobleman, warrior and loyal best friend to Robert the Bruce (King of Scots, Braveheart).

In October 1961, Diane married Donald C. Gregalis (deceased), in St. Francis Church. They were married for over 50 years. In more recent years, they divided their time between homes in the summer in Dennis, MA, and in the winter in Palm City, FL.

She attended schools in North Adams and graduated from Drury High in 1960. Diane attended Bay Path College and later graduated from LaSalle University in accounting.

Diane was employed as a bookkeeper for her Father who owned General Steel. She also provided accounting services for her Husband's hair salon business, Coiffures by Don. Diane worked for over 25 years as an accountant and internal auditor at North Adams Regional Hospital. She had many work girlfriends and participated in their shopping excursions, cruise adventures and golf outings.

In their younger years, Diane and her Husband built their dream home in the woods of Clarksburg, MA, adjacent to her parents' country estate. Her daughters have fond memories of visiting their grandmother on a daily basis. There they would gather to meet, share stories, help with chores, tend to the horses and travel with their grandparents often to visit Saratoga, NY; New Port, RI; and VT.

Diane's passions were her grandchildren, her dog Simba, travel, nature, the beach, skiing, golf, dining out, concerts and the Beatles. She was an adoring fan of the Saratoga horse races and her beloved Boston Red Sox and the NE Patriots.

Diane will be sadly missed by all that knew her. Her light will live on in the hearts and memories of her family and friends. Her daughters are at peace knowing that she is in God's heavenly eternal garden with her beloved family members, friends and wild beach roses.

Her children are Kimberly Granatino, Esq., (George Marlette, Esq.), of Hingham, MA and Lisa Gallo (Steven), of Franklin, MA. Diane was a loving grandmother to: Joseph (Joey) Granatino II, Kevin Granatino, and Nicole Granatino Monroe, Esq. (William); and Marissa Gallo Ferrell (Sean), and Nicholas Gallo. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren especially at the beach, playing bocce ball, swimming in the ocean and attending their baseball games, activities and events.

Diane was the oldest of her siblings being Raymond (Butch) Deraway and Marica Deraway Swenson (both deceased), Cheryl Deraway Martin (Ray) and David Deraway (Bonnie).

Private services at South View Cemetery, North Adams, Berkshire County, MA.
