Published by Vancouver Sun and/or The Province on Feb. 10, 2009.

OLDHAM Diane Patricia nee Whyte June 18, 1937 - February 6, 2009Diane was born in Vancouver, BC on June 18, 1937. She graduated from Kitsilano High School in 1954. Diane attended the University of Washington in 1955 and was initiated into Rho Chapter of Alpha Chi Omega sorority in January 1956. On October 2, 1959 she married Bob Oldham in Vancouver. Bob was an RCMP member and over the next fifteen years they lived in Vancouver, Victoria, Richmond, Nelson, West Vancouver and Tsawwassen. Diane began working with the Delta School Board in 1969 and retired 27 years later from the position of Executive Assistance to the Superintendent of Schools in 1996. During Diane's career with the Delta School District the first Canadian Chapter of the National Association of Education Office Professionals was formed in 1990 under her leadership. Diane and Bob moved into the Riverwest condominium in Delta in 1991. Shortly after moving in, the owners began noticing water leaks. They joined the large number of strata corporations that commenced leaky condominium lawsuits. Diane was a member of the Riverwest strata committee and through their hard work won a major victory in the Supreme Court of BC in 2001 when Riverwest Strata Corporation was the first to go to trial for damages against the municipality and the developers. Diane loved to travel and she and Bob became avid RV'ers. They traveled throughout Canada and the United States with their cat Puma. Diane is survived by her beloved husband and best friend Bob, her daughters Tammy Schiere (Chris) and Kelly Hill (Earl), granddaughters Kristen and Leanne, her brother Lorne Whyte (Ayn Marie) and their children. Diane leaves behind her cousins Joan Morris (Hugh), Ken Smith (Shirley) and their families. Diane was a wonderful friend to many people, supportive, caring and tremendously fun. I am very sad to hear of Diane's passing. She was a great friend, strong person and was a lot of fun. Diane, Bob and I had a lot of good times together. I think of her often.

Diane, you have no idea how much I missed you. We worked so hard rebuilding Riverwest, challenging original developers & making a case for the lawyers. The many trips on the 601 bus from Ladner to Vancouver were fun.

One snowy night when all was gridlocked we made it via Skytrain to Surrey with a good husband coming to our rescue We slipped, fell but picked ourselves up laughing.

We won the judgement! There was some time before Alzheimers robbed us all of enjoying your last years.

Bob, Kelly, Tammy & families, cherish the memories. She was a wonderful lady.

Fondest Regards,
Keith & Betty Prior (Ladner)

I was so saddened to read of Diane's passing. I worked with Diane in the Superintendent's office for 4 years. She was a brilliant, funny, warm and caring person. She had so much knowledge to share with everyone. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Diane was a nice, nice lady and I was so sorry to hear of her passing. She and I both worked for the Delta School District. Whenever our paths crossed, I was always met with a warm welcome....a friendly smile. I remember her fondly and I send my condolences to her family.
