East Falmouth - Diane L. (Babcock) Sullivan, 81, of East Falmouth-formerly of Allston and Brockton-passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family, on February 9, 2025. She was the beloved wife of Edward Sullivan, with whom she shared 56 years of marriage, and the daughter of the late William and Priscilla Babcock.

A proud graduate of Brighton High School (Class of 1961), Diane was a member of the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls ("Rainbow Girls") and remained connected to her alma mater by serving on the Brighton High School reunion committee. After completing her education, she worked at MIC/General Motors and Morse Shoe, taking some time off to raise her three children before joining the City of Brockton's Department of Public Works, where she dedicated 20 years of service until her retirement. Diane was also deeply involved in Brockton's civic life, serving as campaign manager for Vi Packard and Linda Balzotti, and thoroughly enjoyed participating in local politics.

While raising her family, Diane devoted herself to supporting her children at Davis School and encouraged their involvement in Cub Scouts, Brownies/Girl Scouts, and Brockton athletics, especially soccer. She was passionate about their activities and took great pride in their accomplishments and growth.

After retiring, Diane and Ed moved to East Falmouth, where she spent her retirement years traveling across the country in their motorhome, enjoying sewing and crafts, and creating treasured memories with her grandchildren.

In addition to her devoted husband Edward, Diane is survived by her children: Ed Sullivan (Jr.) and his fiancée, Yvonne Soto, of Shelton, Connecticut; Heather Peterson and her husband, Erik, of East Bridgewater; Lara Baldasaro and her husband, Mathew, of Falmouth; and her adopted daughter, Tracey Lincoln, and her husband, Richard, of Raynham. Born the oldest of five, she is also survived by three siblings and their spouses: William Babcock and his wife, Diane; Carol Montagano and her husband, Mike; and Robert Babcock and his wife, Suzanne. She was predeceased by her brother, David Babcock. Diane leaves behind ten grandchildren-Lindsey, Madeline, Ian, Tyler, Brett, Thomas, Andrew, Emily, Katelynn, and Taylor-as well as many dear nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 13, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Chapman Funerals & Cremations, 475 Main Street, Falmouth, MA 02540. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 p.m. at St. Anthony's Church, 167 East Falmouth Highway, East Falmouth, with burial immediately afterward at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne at 1:30 p.m.

I am so genuinely sorry for your loss. Diane was one of a kind and NEVER let any physical ailments stop her from enjoying family time. I vividly remember her getting out of the car after a long trip attached to an IV and acting like it was the most normal thing in the world. She is a light that will greatly be missed.
