I will always remember Diane fondly. She came to Joe Michell school as our music teacher for a while and always had a smile on her face and was the nicest person ever. May she rest in peace with God's eternal love. My heart goes out to Mike and the children. Here are some words of comfort for the children regarding their mother.
"You'll never forget
your mother's face.
the sound of her voice,
the gentleness of her touch...
they let you know you were loved.
You'll never forget
the traditions she handed down,
the things she stood for...
they are her gift and your legacy.
You'll never forget,
and you'll always know
that you honor her every day
in how you live and who you are."

Diane's smile, wonderful laugh and sunny nature will always be tucked in the hearts of those who knew her. I am glad that she was my friend.

On behalf of the entire Class of 1969 of Mountain Lakes High School, Mountain Lakes, NJ, I wish to express our sincere sorrow to all the members of both the Cowart and Ward Families on Diane's passing. Our prayers go out to all who knew and loved Diane. We are strengthened by her courage in fighting her long battle against illness and each of us is better for having known and shared a small part of her life together in Mountain Lakes.
B. Grant (Skip) Fraser, Class President

My dear, sweet sister. If there was ever a kinder, more innocent soul on this earth, I surely never met them.
I pray to my Lord for strength to let you go. I know you are free now and have no pain, no confusion, though my heart screams out to keep you near. Is this another of the many lessons you are teaching us, to be able to give up the things we hold the dearest?
Try out those new wings, Di, and laugh with joy doing cartwheels in the air. It is your time to finally be free.
Thank you for being such an important part of my life...of all our lives.
Watching your bravery and spirit, I am not afraid, now, to leave this earth. I know you will be there making beads and scrapbooks, waiting for us all.
God bless you, sweet Diane.
