DIANNE PLAYER HUFFORD of Houston, Texas, died on Thursday, November 6, 2001, after a long illness. She was born May 1, 1946 in Ocilla, Georgia, graduated from Natchez-Adams High School, and attended Mississippi State University. Dianne, preceded in death by her step-father, William H. Player, is survived by her mother, Mrs. William H. Player of Natchez, and her father, Daniel E. Hill of Port Orford, Oregon; her husband, I. Meade Hufford, of Houston; sons, William Trice Hufford and his wife Laura B. Hufford of Houston, Ross H. Hufford of Natchez, and Lance M. Hufford of Key West, Florida, and mother-in-law Frances S. Manchester of Weems, VA. Survivors also include her sisters Marilyn Player Mitchell, Texarkana, Texas; Deborah J. Player and Pam Player Williams of Jackson, Mississippi, two nieces and a nephew. Dianne was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, the Junior Auxiliary, and the Natchez Garden Club, all in Natchez, MS, where she and Meade lived for many years and raised their family. They have lived in Houston since 1996. A memorial service celebrating Dianne's life will be held on Monday, November 12, 2001, at 2:00 p.m. at Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive, Houston, TX, The Rev. Dr. Peter G. Thomas officiating. A second memorial service will be held in Natchez, MS, at the Laird Funeral Home on Friday, November 23, 2001, at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Diabetes Association or the American Kidney Association.
