Dianne Troy Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 15, 2025.
Dianne Troy, 82, passed away peacefully on September 13, 2025.

A wife and mother, she loved both of those jobs beyond anything else. Yet she managed to be even more. She was a secretary for Lapeer County Schools and later Lapeer East, where she shouldered responsibilities and forged friendships with grace. She was a long-time volunteer at St. John's Catholic Church in Davison, and a one-time scout leader, whose children questioned her insistence that rules applied to them, as well as to the other scouts. So unfair! In mid life, she took up race walking with a competitive passion that earned a medal or twelve.

Mom ran a home that everybody wanted to hang out in, due in equal parts to generous snacks and hugs. She was always a fierce defender of the underdog. A good neighbor, loving friend and kind spirit, she was no patsy. And that may be what her family loved about her, most of all.

Even in her final days, Mom could land a punchy line with aplomb. She was a marvel.

She is survived by her loving husband, Dennis P. Troy, her daughters Colleen Troy (husband Jeff Dodge) and Kathleen Troy (husband Tahir Mahmood), grandchildren Jameyla Troy, Sofia Mahmood, Will Dodge and Arden Dodge. She was predeceased by so many loving souls, including her scrappy, spirited Yorkie, Parker; we know they're united again.
