Dolores Achenbach

Funeral services Celebrating the Life of Dolores T. "Dee" Achenbach, 78, a resident of Davenport, will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, October 20, 2005, in the All Faith Chapel at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery, Davenport. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mrs. Achenbach passed suddenly on Monday, October 17, 2005, at Genesis Medical Center West Campus, Davenport.
Dolores Teresa Hirl was born September 15, 1927, in Davenport, a daughter of James Leo and Frances Mary (Bousselot) Hirl. She was united in marriage to Robert P. "Bud" Achenbach on June 29, 1946, in Davenport. They celebrated their 59th Wedding Anniversary this past June.
She worked for 20 years as a receptionist for Dr. A.E. Lampe Dentistry in Davenport. She had been a longtime volunteer for the Genesis Medical Center West Campus Auxiliary "Pink Ladies," working specifically in the gift shop.
Dolores was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She especially cherished the time spent with family. She enjoyed traveling and was quite an accomplished oil paint artist. She was an avid bridge player, enjoyed computer games and Gaither Gospel Music.
Memorials can be made to Handicapped Development Center.
Survivors include her husband, Robert, "Bud," Davenport; children, Robert P. (Marilyn) Achenbach, Jr., Eugene, Oregon, Theresa A. McClanahan, Coupeville, Washington, and Jeffery L. Achenbach, Davenport; three grandchildren that she adored, Christina L. (Brian) Wilkerson and Samantha D. and Alissa A. Achenbach; a sister, Violet Petersen, Davenport; and numerous loving nieces and nephews.
