Domenico CAMINITI Obituary
Peacefully on Monday, April 30th, 2012 at the age of 48. Loving son of Rocco and Grazia Caminiti. Dear brother of Teresa Haw (Kirk) and Sam Caminiti (Claudia). Cherished Zio of Mitchell, Matteo, Marco, Olivia, Selena and Angela. Domenico will be sadly missed by many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He will never be forgotten and his smile and sense of humour will remain in our hearts forever. Friends may pay respects at the Kelly Funeral Home, 585 Somerset Street West (Centretown) Friday, May 4th, 2012 from 2 to 9 p.m. Funeral Saturday to St. Anthony's Church (Gladstone and Booth) for Mass of Christian Funeral at 11:30 a.m. Entombment Capital Memorial Gardens. Rooco, Grazia, Teresa, Sam and family, we were shocked to hear of the passing of Mimo. We were away at the time of his passing, and were devastated by the news. In reading many of the wonderful messages, it is abundantly clear how well respected Mimo was, and brings back some very fond memories of what a truly wonderful man he was and will continue to be in our memories. He had a very special way of looking at things in a positive way, and it was infectious to all around him. His laughter and smile will always be remembered fondly.

Mimo, words alone cannot explain how much we miss you. We miss your company, your smile, your humour, your generosity … you will not be forgotten. When I see somebody walking their dog, go to Tim Hortons, see a Porsche, a Camaro, see a smile, hear a joke, see a group of buddies hanging out, see a garage … we will think of you. Your legacy will help me be more respectful of others, especially children, smile more often, be kinder, be happy. Mimo, thank you for making me a better person … you will never be forgotten. My father and Mimmo were pretty close , I remember when I was younger I used to love going to visit Mimmo . I remember I used to call him Uncle Mimmo all the time n he would laugh . We always loved how much of a great person he was and still is . Every Friday night my father, Mimmo and all the guys would go to Timmies off merivale and meadowlands to the car hang out ! To the Caminiti family and all those who were touched by Domenico:
We were absolutely stunned to hear of Domenic's unexpected passing.We did not know Domenic too well or unfortunately for too long, but in the short time we had spent with him, he impressed upon us what a truly lovely person he was. He was our neighbor and he was always happy to lend us a helping hand--whether that meant pumping up my flat bicycle tires or finding us a way to prop up our new air-conditioner. He loved to proudly show us his beautifully restored "babies" (cars) in his garage and we remember vividly how happy he was to hear the sound of those engines roaring.
He was a truly warm, open and caring person. It was with such affection that he spent time with his sweet dog Maxi and played with her, and with such fun and laughter that he entertained his many friends in his garage. I remember that he ALWAYS had a smile on his face and that he often happily started off his mornings with a cup of coffee from Tim Horton's. He made us laugh and he made us smile and he made us feel great just because we were with him.
What a gift he has given us-- the gift of his friendship, his helpfulness, his kindness, and the realization that the only thing that matters is not necessarily how much time you spend together with someone, but the quality of the time spent.
Domenic's legacy is for us to always try to remember to treat others with as much kindness, respect, selflessness, and heart as he had, though those are awfully big shoes to fill.
You will be very missed Domenico, but you will always be remembered and admired. Thank you for the time we shared.

The news of Dom's passing broke my heart. Dom was such a gentle, thoughtful person who would always ask about the welfare of others. His positive attitude and belief that “things will be OK” was contagious and he saw hope where others couldn't.

I did not know Mimmo well or for very long. In fact I only knew him enough to say hi at Tim Hortons or at various car shows. And yet I knew in that short time that he was a happy, special, and gentle man. I know many of the "car guys" are very sad about his passing.
