Dominic Nardi Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 12, 2024.
In the presence of his loving family, Dominic Nardi concluded a life well lived, on December 11, 2024.

While he will be missed and remembered always, his wife and most of his children find comfort knowing he will not have to endure another Trump presidency.

Dominic born on August 7, 1950 (or was it August 2nd?), to Saverio and Fiorentina Nardi, in Sudbury, Canada, where he grew up running through the woods and watching hockey with his brother, sister and cousins. Dominic's family later moved to Queens, NY in the early 1960's. It was there that Dominic met, the love of his life, Virginia. On October 12, 1974, they married, and together they raised four mostly- OK children-Joey, Gina, Jennifer, and Lisa, in Valley Cottage, NY. Dom was a dedicated and loving father; he always did all he could to make certain his family had what they needed. It was his life's wish that his family have happiness.

Dom, graduated with a BS in Economics from Pace University and spent many years working at Bank of New York in Manhattan. While a computer programmer by trade, Dom held many other roles throughout his life including coach, loyal friend, chauffer, math tutor, softball player, bread guy, and of course, his most coveted role as Papa to his grandsons, Lucas and Preston. Dom absolutely cherished his role as Papa, there was nothing, and we mean NOTHING, he would not do for his boys, including, afternoon kaiser rolls, burrito deliveries to school, homework help, and rides to their various activities.

Over the years, we have endured, I mean enjoyed his vocal stylings. Dom especially loved the music of the "Man in Black," though he, himself was more of a "Man in Fluorescent". While a visit with Dom might include a song, it would definitely include all the latest gossip.

Above all, Dominic's life was defined by his devotion to his family, and Judge Judy (every day at 2pm, on channel 11). On Sundays you would be certain to find him watching football, in fact, Dom had a voracious appetite for all sports. Speaking of appetite, Dom thoroughly enjoyed food, though his palette was limited, dare we say simple.

We are all as lucky as a Ladybug, silver dollar, rabbit's foot, for having known and loved Dominic.

Dominic was predeceased by his parents, Saverio and Fiorentina Nardi, his sister Agata, and her husband Frank Grigoli.

He is survived by his wife Virginia, his children Joey (Amy) Nardi, Gina (Eric) Giraldo, Jennifer (Elle) Nardi-Kirsten, Lisa Nardi and her partner Adam Winarchik; Grandchildren Lucas and Preston Giraldo; Brother Joseph (Marie) Nardi; and his many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life for Dominic, a 2-time Bocce champion, will take place Saturday, December 14, at The Sons of Italy, 46 Van Wyck Rd., Blauvelt, NY, 12-4pm. Drop in to share a story and a bite, and raise a glass to the memory of Dom.

In a final act of devotion to his children; In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation in Dominic's name to The Dear Jack Foundation, a charity that is near and dear to his youngest Daughter, Lisa's heart.

Tony and Nina Fragomeni, Dominic´s cousins from Sudbury (Nina is Zio Saverio´s niece - Nina´s mother Luisa was Zio Saverio´s sister) send their deepest condolences to Virginia and family and Joe and family. Our family in Sudbury have very fond memories of the visits to Sudbury, time together with Dominic, Joe, Agata and Zio and Zia. Memories of our family visit to Queens, New York are as clear as yesterday. Although time has passed, know that you are in our hearts, our minds and our prayers. Love always Nina, Tony and family, Doni and Nancy.
