When I think of my memories from high school I always remember the teachers that made an impact on me. Don Guy was one of those teachers. He was a teacher, a person you could go to when you needed advice. He really cared about his students and always pushed us to do more. His passing is truly a great loss. My thoughts go out to his family.

I remember Don Guy as a powerful, evasive running back with Strathcona High School in the late sixties. I played for Victoria Composite in the Northern Conference and our gratest fear was to be faced with playing against Don. We went to several his games and scouted hoping for weaknesses. All we could see was his amazing sense of timing, hand-eye coordination and speed. I met Don several years later while trying out for the Golden Bears. This fearsom competitor turned out to be, not only a superior athlete, but a superior individual. I am deeply saddened by his passing.

A gentle wind blew cross the land
Reaching out to take a hand
For on the winds the angels came
Calling out a name.

Left behind, the children's tears
Loving memories of the years
Of joy and love, a life well spent
And now to God a special man sent.

On angel's wings, a heavenly flight
The journey home, towards the light
To those who weep, a life is gone
But in God's love, 'tis but the dawn.

Dear Amber, Brayden and little Allister. I am so sorry for the loss of your Dad and Grandpa. I feel very blessed to have had such a great visit with Don in Vernon last summer. He was so proud of both of you and little Allister. He showed me a picture of him which he kept in his wallet. I am truly saddened that our cousin Don is no longer with us.

Love Heather (cousin) and Don

To Don's family, Amberly, Brayden and his little grandson, Allister, and his very close friends, I am so sorry for your loss. Don's ever-present grin, twinkling eyes and ready laugh is a memory that I hold dear from our early years of being on staff together at Vic Comp. He was never happier, however, than when he was on the football field strategizing with his fellow coaches, his best buddies -all happy to be out there with their team in any weather. That picture will always be so clear in my mind. Don, our strong, swarthy guy with the gentle heart, rest in peace. You will be missed.

Mr. Guy was a great teacher and person. I only knew him for a short time, but that time was a memorable one. I had the chance to talk to him many times about different things like school or sports just to name a few. Mr. Guy will always hold a special place in my heart. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

Shades of the late 60s when Don was in my Westmount JHS English class and I followed his career with coach Hal Stuckert on the fields and courts of Edmonton. Years pass and Don became a colleague with that great gang of coaches and staff mates at MELaZerte. Both Elana and I have fond memories that we'll hold onto forever.
Hail, Coach Guy!

Mr. Guy was my teacher for various classes at M.E. LaZerte about 9 years ago. I will always remember how much fun his classes were and how he was always making jokes and laughing. It was a pleasure to be his student in his class. He was one of the best.

Thoughts and prayers from my family to his. He will be missed
