Published by Legacy Remembers on May 11, 2022.
Dona Stowell (nee Mottle) 67, of West Orange, New Jersey, passed away on May 7, 2022.

Born in Ellenville, New York in 1955, she was the daughter of Frank and Aldona (nee Budininkas) Mottle. Dona was the beloved wife of David Stowell, with whom she shared 38 years of marriage; caring sister of Alan Mottle (Katheryn) and Edna Simpson (Robert); loving aunt of Kristin Kriger (Victor) and their children, Claire and Hannah, Taylor Simpson (Jordan), Kaitlin Widdowson (Colby) and their children, Charlotte and Christine, and niece to Marie Schoenebeck and Ann Pulkauinkas. Dona was predeceased by her father Frank Mottle, mother-in-law Anthea Platt, and nephew and godson Trevor Simpson.

Dona attended Rondout Valley Central School District and later attended and graduated from Port Jervis High School in 1973. She attended Stony Brook University on a full regent's scholarship. She loved the ocean and enjoyed her time scuba diving with family and with her husband when they vacationed. She was an avid skier and rose through the National Ski Patrol to the rank of Senior Ski Patrol at Big Vanilla at Davos Ski Center.

Services and interment are private.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory to West Orange Elks Club (#1590) would be appreciated.

I was so sorry to hear about Dona's sudden passing. Seeing her photo brought back so many memories of our times together, playing at each other's homes, skiiing, at school, and so much more. Included in those are times when my brother, John, and I would spend time together at your house. Those times were such an important part of my childhood and Dona will always be in my heart even though time and place created a physical distance. Please know that my thoughts are with you as you grieve the loss of this beautiful woman; your wife, daughter, sister, aunt, and beloved friend. Sending love to you all, Jill
