Here we are 5 months later & I catch myself thinking of you often. Your new tennis shoes & new gym shorts still in trunk. Don't have the heart to take them out. Miss you brother. One Love!

I met Donnie when he was a Deputy at the Mags (entrance in the court house) during the night shift close to 20 yrs ago. There were people with disabilities that cleaned the building back then and Donnie took care of them like they were his children. Somehow I shared something about myself once-something that no one else would have cared about or remembered but he used that as my nickname. I went to Cave Hill once to meet him but it was either day he didn´t go or he he had already left. I am so devastated I never knew he was ill and home bound or I would have visited him. He was always so kind. I hope he will always be remembered-he left a loving legacy.

I knew Donnie when he was a sheriff in Family Court. I have such great memories of Donnie's humor & smile. I knew it was going to be a good day. He is in heaven keeping an eye on the gates.

I grew up with Donnie and was best friends with his sister Susie, 48 years ago to be exact. One year it snowed really bad and my mom had chains on her tires but ended up sliding into the ditch, Donnie & another guy literally picked up the front of her car and got her out. I have endless memories that are mostly inappropriate but could be made into a comedy. He use to make me & Susie do army crawls in the front yard and little got on our last nerve. I enjoyed following him on Instagram and commenting on his post. Going to miss you Donnie, Love Kelle Key Gaus

Donnie taught me about ducks, geese, kindness and generosity. He designed the best baseball cap in the world for the Cave Hill Hungry Goose Club. Saturday mornings during the pandemic when social life was so seriously curtailed, he and his Hungry Goose Club opened up a new world for me. A world of careful, appreciative observation of nature and time spent in the serenity (well . . . except for the honking) of the lake at Cave Hill. Rest in peace, Donnie and thanks for the peace you shared.

I only met Donnie four years ago volunteering with the Cave Hill Hungry Goose Club. The side I knew was that gentle spirit which loved to hear the geese honking as the flock chased his truck over the hills of Cave Hill knowing their great friend had arrived with corn and watermellons. Oh, how you will be missed, my friend. Rest in Peace.

Donnie and I worked together at the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office back in the 90's. I saw him again at Cave Hill and he was feeding the ducks and swans. Donnie was so funny talking to ducks. Thoughts and prayers are with Donnie's family and friends. Rest in peace my friend.

So sad, rest in peace Donnie. He was always so funny and always loved to chat. Sometimes people go to a dark place and can´t get out. You had a great wit and a wonderful smile. God Bless your Family, you will never be forgotten by your brothers and sister.
