Donald J. Lucchi, age 80, of Jasper, Indiana, went to be the Lord, at 10:04 a.m. on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at Brookside Village in Jasper. Don was born in Terre Haute, Indiana, on July 1, 1944, to Reverend Albert A. and Phyllis R. (Murray) Lucchi. He married Vivian Dean on July 22, 1966, at Central Baptist Church in Gary, Indiana. He was 1962 graduate of West Vigo High School. He then received his bachelor's and master's degree from Indiana State University. Don served in the United States Army Reserve in Gary, Indiana in the 395th Evacuation Hospital. He worked as a school teacher for Hammond Gavit High School and Merrillville High School. He retired as a Uniserv director for the Indiana State Teachers Association after 28 years. He was a member of Living Hope Baptist Church in Jasper. Don enjoyed sporting events, especially basketball. He taught Sunday school and was involved in his church. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Vivian Lucchi, two sons: Brian D. (Elizabeth) Lucchi and Scott A. (Venita) Lucchi and four grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, David A. (Nancy) Lucchi.

A funeral service for Donald J. Lucchi will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper, Indiana, with burial to follow in Community Cemetery in Haysville. Pastor James Young will officiate. A visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until the 2:00 p.m. service time at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel on Saturday. In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorial contributions may be made to Living Hope Baptist Church or a favorite charity. Online condolences may be made to www.becherkluesner.com.
