Don knew how to enjoy life & always saw to it that those around him did too. He was one of a kind. He enjoyed traveling with family & friends to sunny destinations, loved to entertain, play golf & was an avid sports fan. Everyone who knew him has a "Don Nick" story. He was the eternal optimist who never let things get him down & inspired others to overcome obstacles. He was known to include everyone & help those in need without question. He kept his faith & positive outlook to the very end. Don's influence will forever remain in the lives of all who knew him. Don was blessed with a loving family who adored him. Cousin Donald, the eternal optimist, always with a smile and big heart, brought fun and laughter wherever he was. My husband, Dave, and our two children, fondly remember being invited to "Uncle" Donald´s farm in Michigan for a great time with live animals, games for the family, and food-a-plenty. Donald´s and Linda´s hospitality provided a very special day for everyone to share laughter, excitement, camaraderie, and remember always. A most generous man, Donald will be long remembered and sadly missed. Our love and sympathy to you, Linda, Anthony, Kevin, and the family.

One thing I will always remember about Donald is the love and respect that Donald had for Grandma Nick. When Grandma Nick would invite our large family for Sunday brunch, Donald would appear with bags of groceries: Greek cheese and olives, pita bread, eggs, butter, bacon and fruit. After giving Grandma Nick a big hug and a kiss, Donald would proceed to create a very festive atmosphere for all the family. Donald's presence completed our circle of love for Grandma Nick. We will miss you, Donald.
Love,
Aunt Gloria

Linda and the Nick family my deepest condolences. I was fortunate to know Don for 42 years as a former player on his Championship teams (aptly named "Don Nick". He was a delight to know and there are many great stories. He became a confidante and business associate. One thing he taught was to give generously especially to one´s less fortunate. He had a heart of gold! Like so many I loved Don

Dear Linda, Kevin, Anthony, and family,

I´m so sorry to hear of Don´s passing. That news brought back a flood of fond memories of your family from the years I babysat for you guys. You all figured so prominently in my life all through my teenage years and through college-you felt like my second family. I learned a lot from Don about generosity, maintaining a positive attitude, laughing loud and often...and throwing a party whenever you can! He really knew how to enjoy life!

I always loved working at your parties...I´d be sitting there on the edge of the pool with my feet in the water watching the kids and I´d hear Don in the pavilion behind the pool take the mike and start singing with the band. Something about that was so quintessentially summer!

I feel really lucky to have such wonderful memories from the job I had growing up. I have thought of you all many times over the years and my thoughts and prayers are with you now. I hope you´re finding some comfort in your happy memories.

With love and heartfelt condolences, Mel

To say that Donald was bigger than life is an understatement. He created so much fun and good times for his family and friends. He wasn´t only there for fun. When anyone close to him had some troubling times, Donald was always there to help out and come up with ideas to deal with any adversity. He loved to entertain. I´ll never forget the 1984 World Series as Donald hosted a dozen fellows to travel with the Tigers and we went to every game starting in San Diego. Donald always saw the bright side, always had a laugh and sense of humor and always cared about others. He will be missed by so many

I´m not usually at a loss for words. Knowing Don has left this earth is hard for me to comprehend. Our family has known Donnie for 30 years. He meant the world to all of us. One of a kind is an understatement. Generous beyond words. We loved Don Nick! Rest well my friend. You´ve earned your place on the other side. My deepest condolences to Linda, Anthony and Kevin.

As we remember our old address of 355 Oakwood Road, Ortonville, Don and Linda were truly outstanding neighbors. Always friendly and gregarious, we never knew what Don had up his sleeve. Whatever it was, it was always fun and the talk of the town. Christmas decorations that caused traffic jams on Oakwood, great parties, llamas and peacocks and mini-horses, silly conversations with Don and lively and lovely conversations with Linda; never a dull moment on Oakwood Rd.

Thanks for the memories!

I'm the youngest and only Girl of 3 amazing brothers
My brother Don was the oldest and definitely the leader of our pack. I'm sure I was not unique in how special he made me feel.
He called me " his one and only"

My brother loved his friends and family to the fullest. Never an unkind word

His love for Linda and his children were what filled his heart

Too many stories, and too many memories to share

I am certain all that knew my brother have a special if not many memorable stories to share. And perhaps many of us we're together for some of those memories.
Always had a big kiss for all of us.

Our hearts are broken. Our pack will feel this void, but our brothers BIG memory will live in our hearts forever

He lived BIG, he laughed BIG and he Loved BIG

Dearest Linda and family:
How we will miss Donald (as I always called him growing up)! He was revered by the younger cousins (like me) and loved by everyone. My parents had a special bond with Don. I'll never forget the story my parents told many times. We had moved to Ohio in the mid-60's and Donald picked them up in a private plane and flew them to Louisville for the Kentucky Derby. That's classic Don!!! What a treasured time for them and how they loved him. I was privileged to spend time with you and Don in Florida over the last 5 years. It began in 2017 when Doug and I first owned a home in FL and you graciously invited us to Donald's surprise birthday party. You had to tell him it was a Superbowl party to get him to your clubhouse! In the years following, we always made it a point to see you both when we were in FL from our Ohio home. You are an amazing person and Don loved you with all his heart. He will always watch over you. God bless you.
All my love
Diana

In life if you were as lucky as I was to have a friend, mentor and father figure like Don be a part of it you were blessed! I was blessed to have Uncle Donnie, as my children called him in my life for 35 years. I will miss him, his stories, his passion and his no regrets mantra but the memories we shared together over and those 35 years will never be forgotten. I miss you and I'm so thankful to have had you in my life. Thank you for everthjng.

Love Marc
