Donald Salt Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 2, 2023.
Donald L. Salt

Don Salt joined his Lord and Savior in his eternal home Monday, January 30, 2023. We imagine the first questions he asked upon his arrival were, "When is the next meal?" and "Where is it being served?" Don's coworkers and family often teased him for planning the next meal before he even finished the current one, but mealtime for Don was a way to connect and spend time with family and friends.

Don grew up with a love for God's creation that lasted throughout his life. Don earned his Eagle Scout award at 17 and worked as a Scout Leader for over 20 years, serving both Pack 10 and Troop 38. Don was also the Youth Pastor for New Covenant Christian Fellowship for 35 years.

By nature Don was a teacher, and loved to share the love of His Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, which he demonstrated by selflessly seeding into people's lives. Don knew how to love and would show it by spending time with you. If you ever shared a meal with him, know he loved you.

Don was 64 years old and retired from Alabama Power after 41 years.

Donald Lee Salt born March 19, 1958.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Salt. His survivors include his mother, Phyllis Schauweker Salt; brothers, Thomas and Jeffrey Salt, wife, Bobie Salt (m. 1981); and children, Aaron and Justin Salt.

Celebration of life service will be Friday, February 3, at 3:30 p.m.

Reformation Church of Ozark (187 Southeast Av. Ozark, AL)

I send my condolences to Justin and Aaron and to his wife Bobbie. Mr.Salt was a GREAT man and a GREAT leader and teacher. I enjoyed every second he was scoutmaster of troop 38. He never gave up on us and wouldn´t let us quit. I will be praying for all his family and friends.

Mr. Don was such a special person. He had a way of being so inviting to everyone. I love to hear my husband and father-in-law tell stories from their years in Scouts. He leaves behind a wonderful legacy and many people who think the world of him. I rejoice knowing that he is whole and well and in the best place possible with his Heavenly Father.

Attached is a photo we stumbled upon from his years with the Scouts.
