Donald Van Deusen Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 5, 2025.
Donald Spencer Van Deusen, aged 60, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at Stamford Hospital after a brief illness. He was born in Norwalk, CT, on November 29, 1964 to Stanley Patrick Van Deusen and Nancy Asp Van Deusen. Aside from a recent move to Stamford, CT, Don was a lifelong Norwalk resident.

Don is survived by his sister, Melissa Van Deusen Greenlaw of Berkley, MA, and his brothers and sisters-in-law: Michael Van Deusen of Bridgeport, CT; Mark and Shiela (Richardson) Van Deusen of North Haven, CT; and David and Lee (Kawejsza) Van Deusen of Norwalk, CT. In addition, Don is survived by his nieces Brooke, Carly, and Peyton Van Deusen. He was predeceased by his parents and his niece, Sarah Ireland Wright.

Don had many interests. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing golf with his brothers every Friday, followed by a traditional pizza outing. Over time, he transitioned to Frisbee Golf, making Norwalk's Cranbury Park his second home. Don spent countless hours there, playing the game he loved, gathering with friends, and walking his beloved dogs, Bear and Nico.

His love for the outdoors was evident in his gardening, where he took great pride in tending to his flower and vegetable gardens. Don also spent years volunteering his time and landscaping skills to the community for the betterment of his neighborhood.

Don had many friends. He loved adventure and music, often attending the annual Laconia Motorcycle Week in New Hampshire. He also enjoyed the fun and camaraderie found at the Gathering of the Vibes Music Festival in Bridgeport, CT, where he camped and enjoyed the vibrant musical scene.

Don was a fun-loving guy with a heart of gold, always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He will be missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

An outdoor Celebration of Life will be planned for the warmer weather and announced at a later date.
