DONALD W. KLOTZ Age 78, of Mokena, passed away on Wednesday, June 8th, 2016 with his family by his side at the Joliet Area Community Hospice House in Joliet. Don is survived by his loving family. He married Carolyn Klotz (Marti) on May 6, 1961 and together they raised four wonderful, loving children; Cathleen (Randall) Knittle, Christine (David) Hiler, Kevin (Nicole) Klotz, Karen (William) Saunoris, grandchildren, Amanda (Matthew) Ducharme, Scott (Julie) James, Kaitlin James, Alyvia Klotz, Will Klotz, Liam Saunoris, great grandchildren, Sadie Grace Ducharme, Landon James, siblings, Hilda Wischover, Bruno Klotz, Norman (Gail) Klotz, Shirley Holden and numerous nieces and nephews. Don was preceded in death by his parents, Frank & Gladys Klotz (Armstrong), grandson, Noah Klotz, siblings, Virginia Mueller, Lorrine DeAngelo and Lucille Sopher. Don was a Korean Army Veteran who served with the 10th Mountain Division in Germany from 1955 to 1958. He was a member of the American Legion Post 1977 and retired from US Steel in 2001 after 43 years of service. Don enjoyed golfing, family gatherings, spending winters in Texas and NASCAR. Family will receive friends at Kurtz Memorial Chapel, 102 E. Francis Road, New Lenox, IL 60451 on Tuesday, June 14th, 2016 from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Funeral service, Wednesday, June 15th, 2016 at 10:00 AM at the funeral home. Interment with military honors will be held at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL on Wednesday, June 15th, 2016 at 12:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Joliet Area Community Hospice House would be appreciated. For information, www.kurtzmorialchapel.com or 815-485-3200.

I knew Don from the American Legion. I will always remember his smile and laugh and the way he always asked how I was doing. We had some good conversations, which I will always appreciate. My prayers go out to his family. God bless you all and may Don rest in peace.

To the Klotz Family,

Please accept our deepest sympathies on the loss of Mr. Klotz. He was a kind, generous, and funny man who always made us feel welcome and who always had a smile on his face. The love he had for his family was paramount and showed in everything he said and did. We hope you can take comfort in the memories you made and the legacy he leaves behind. He will be dearly missed but never forgotten. Please know that we are thinking about all of you.
