SMILEY, DOROTHA Passed away suddenly on January 11, 2006. Dorotha was born May 29, 1919 in Dodge, Nebraska, the daughter of Alice and Herman Johannes. She grew up on the farm with her two siblings, Nettie and Donald. After completing high school, she lived in Schuyler, Nebraska, and married Leonard Bosh, who served and died in World War II. She met and married W. Randall Randy Boyer and moved to Lander, Wyoming, where she lived for many years and made many good friends. In 1965 she moved to California with her husband, Gerow Kip Smiley and daughter, Becky, living first in Petaluma and then Santa Rosa. Dorotha was a loving, vibrant, strong woman all her life. She was dedicated to her family, and was welcoming and gracious to all. She had a large circle of great friends, and loved to socialize. She had strong faith, and loved to contribute, working for a time as Church Secretary, and later volunteering many hours at United Methodist Church in Petaluma, and the First United Methodist Church in Santa Rosa. She lived her life with joy, dignity, and perseverance. She is survived by many great friends, and her family, Becky and Dan Ross; Kim, Tim and Emilee Woods; Jason and Aiden Ross and Miki Padilla, Jo Ross, Kip Smiley; David, Beth, Nicole and Sam Smiley; Paul Doc Smiley, Lani Smiley, Julia and Erik Langaunet, Laura Smiley, and many other cousins, nieces and nephews. Friends and family are invited to attend a Memorial service on Thursday, January 19 at 1 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 1551 Montgomery Dr., Santa Ro-sa. Donations in Dortha's memory can be made to the First United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 1551 Montgomery Dr. Santa Rosa 95405.
