Retired Services for Dorothy Hand Boggan will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Union Baptist Church in Kemper County with the Revs. Dr. Malcolm Lewis and Mike Vick officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Stephens Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Boggan, 77, of Bailey, died Monday, Aug. 18, 2008, at Regency Hospital. She was the retired dietary manager for Newton Hospital. Survivors include her daughters, Audrey Burt of Enterprise, Rebecca Fairchild and her husband, Tommy, of Madison, Dianne Hayes of Bailey; grandchildren, Quentin Fairchild, Richard Fairchild and Charles Fairchild, all of Madison, Stuart Fairchild of Hattiesburg, Dorothy Lee Lindsey and her husband, Jason, of Atlanta, Mark Hayes and Neil Hayes, both of Memphis, Tenn.; great-grandchild, Presley Lindsey of Atlanta; brothers, William "Billy" Hand and his wife, Joyce, of Ethel, La., Walter "Bobby" Hand and his wife, Bettie, of Pascagoula and Devon Hand and his wife, Patricia, of Vancleave; a sister, Vivian Adams of Gautier; an aunt, Jean Frazier of Bailey; a special nephew, Walter Caldwell of Bailey and several other nieces, nephews, great-nieces; great-nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Norris Boggan; a son, Richard Norris Boggan; her parents, Audrey Thompson Hand and Walter "Bud" Hand; grandparents, Mammie Hendon Thompson and William Monroe "Will" Thompson; aunts, Rubye Thompson Hand, Virginia Thompson Plinke and Irene Caldwell. Memorials may be made to United Daughters of the Confederacy, Robert E. Lee Chapter No. 2561, C/O Sandy Gaddis, president, 4560 Arundel Road, Meridian, MS 39307-8505 or to Union Baptist Church in Kemper County. Pallbearers will be Mark Hayes, Neil Hayes, Reggie McKee, Stuart Fairchild, Ken Caldwell and Kevin Caldwell. Visitation will be today from 5 p.m.- 7 p.m. at the funeral home and Thursday 30 minutes prior to the service at the church.
