When Dorothy and I were in our early twenties we had an apartment together on Jefferson St in Cambridge. She the medical field and became a phlebotomist and lab technician; and she was good at it she drew my blood and it didn't hurt. One day she asked me; why are you always happy. I told her God is in my heart and he guides me. I told her to join a Christen Church and to visit different denominations until you find the one you feel is right for you. Well she did and got involve a whole lot more than I did. She started to follow her dreams, of being a missionary. She finally found her happiness. She had wonderful friend and traveled with them to places like Peru, Chili, Argentina and Mexico. She had full life and allot of good memories. She love whole whole-heatedly, and she was loved by many. I miss my sister and will always love her.

My Aunt Dorothy was such a pure sweet soul. She was an amazing aunt and did so much for her nieces and nephews. I have so many good memories of her from fishing, to crafts, going to church and even seeing her as a clown. Her smile would light up the room; you couldnt help but to feel warm and loved by her. She was always so friendly and giving. Im grateful to have had her as an aunt and hope she is at peace now.

I met Dorothy when I moved into St.Joseph's School of Nursing's dorm many years ago. She was living there along with other friends Kim and Lois. I thought they were all a pretty strange group and for some reason they kept inviting me to go to church with them, especially Dorothy! She was quite emphatic that I NEEDED to go to church and basically threatened me with extermination if I didn't. I resisted for as long as I could but finally came to the conclusion Dorothy would not stop bugging me until I went. So finally on January 20th 1985, I went to church with the group. (Honestly I went just to shut her up.) It was quite an experience that I had never anticipated and if I could have run out of the church I would have, but Dorothy sat me in the second row so there was no escaping. I had previously warned them that the day I walked into a church the walls would cave in. Well I was half correct. It wasn't the walls of the church that caved in, but the walls of my heart that did. For the first time in my life I heard the truth of how much God loved me. No matter what I had done in the past or how unworthy I felt, I finally understood that Jesus died for me, because he loves me unconditionally. I made the decision to turn my life over to Jesus as my Savior that day, and my life has never been the same since. So I guess it's fair to say that Dorothy was responsible for me receiving the greatest gift I've ever received. I know the ministry gift she was given was to share the love of Jesus, and through it she touched many other lives also. She loved children and I watched her minister to them with love and tenderness on every opportunity she had.
I have so many fun memories we had it's difficult to share just one. We moved into our first apartment together and prayed all our furniture in. Dorothy certainly taught me how to believe God answered prayer! We would pray for a piece of furniture then go drive around various neighborhoods and find it sitting on the curb for free! I remember how excited she would get dancing around!
We ended up taking care of our little 90yr old landlady Berthe who had no family involved. We would go grocery shopping for her every week and had to buy her quart bottle of Miller beer praying we wouldn't run into anyone from church! One time we dressed up as identical clowns (happy ones not scary ones) and we drove around making people laugh.
I was with Dorothy when she met with the physician prior to her first back surgery, and then when her health took a turn for the worse limiting her from doing much of anything she loved. We lost touch after she moved to Florida and then back to New Hampshire, but all the memories I have are a treasure..
To all Dorothy's siblings and family, I am so sorry for this unexpected loss of this very special woman. She was truly one in a million. Please rest assured she is in Heaven enjoying herself immensely, and I know without a doubt she is dancing with Jesus. Sending many prayers for all of you during this difficult time.
