Dorothy Cox Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Dec. 17 to Dec. 18, 2012.
Dorothy Lucille Starnes Cox Dorothy Lucille Starnes Cox, age 77, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 15, 2012 at her home with her family. She was a member of Ruth Street Church of God, where her son, Jackie Lynn Cox was her beloved Pastor and son, and his wife Patty Cox, and Timothy Dale Cox and wife Nancy Cox; and daughter, Diane Renee Otey and husband Carl Hugh Otey. Dorothy was born on June 1, 1935. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Willis Jack Cox; and a special handicapped grandson, Wesley Jack Otey. She is survived by three children and their spouses. In addition to being survived by three children and their spouses, she is also survived by grandchildren Tracy Hunt and husband Alan, J.J. Cox and wife Abby, Lexie Cox, Keeshia Cox, Willis Dale Cox and wife Roda; and great-grandchildren, Brian Cox, Johnathan Cox, Kyla Cox, Brittany Hunt, Halie Hunt, Hannah Cox, Allison Cox, Jessy Alvarado, Peyton Chambers, Mattey Sky, and Zoey Cox. She is also survived by one brother, Gene Starnes and wife Betty; two sisters, Clarine "Sis" Guinn and husband Bobby, and Georgia Seaton. All siblings are in Greeneville, Tenn. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. We would like to give a special thanks to Amedisys Home Health and Amedisys Hospice, to all the nurses, physical therapists, and occupational therapists, and a special thanks to The Cambridge House for the excellent care they gave her for three months in their Physical Therapy Nursing Skilled Unit. They were very aggressive with her treatment for her wounds from a bad fall and they had her well when she came home. She was loved by so many people. She had her Ruth Street Church Family, and her small community neighborhood. They were all there in a matter of seconds. They were all very supportive, and included the Rev. Lawrence Stout and family and the Rev. Tony Deel and family who deserve a very special thank you. A special thanks goes to caregiver and special friend Neece Mumpower. Funeral services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2012, from Weaver Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jackie Franklin Cox and Pastor Jackie Lynn Cox officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 -7:45 prior to the funeral service. The committal and graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2012, in Tri-Cities Memory Gardens. Patty Cox will be singing a special song that our mother loved so well called "The Crossing". Online condolences may be registered at www.Weaverfuneralhome.net. Weaver Funeral Home and Cremation Services is in charge of arrangements.
