Dorothy Duncan Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 6, 2025.
Dorothy Irene Duncan passed away peacefully at her home in Lee's Summit, Missouri, on July 29, surrounded by her loving family.

She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 54 years, Harry Douglas Duncan, as well as her parents, Robert L. Wilson and Mary Delores Wilson, and numerous beloved family members.

Dorothy had a lifelong love for drawing and horses, was an avid reader, and enjoyed traveling and trying her luck with penny slots. More than anything, she cherished time with her family, loving each of them fiercely and finding joy in simply being together.

She is survived by her five children:

Harry "Doug" Duncan (Melissa) of Lenexa, KS

Kevin Duncan (Cathy) of Garden City, MO

April Schnabel (TJ) of Independence, MO

Kathleen "Kat" Duncan of the home

Dorothy Xanders (Pat) of Belton, MO

Dorothy is also survived by her twin sisters, Jean Rose of Lee's Summit and Joan Sweaney (Rick) of Lee's Summit; 21 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

On August 11, 2025, a Rosary will be held at 9:30 a.m., followed by visitation from 10:00–11:00 a.m. and a Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Presentation Catholic Church, 130 NW Murray, Lee's Summit, MO 64081.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Heartland Therapeutic Riding (HTRKC.org) in Dorothy's memory.
