Dorothy J. LaBerge

Dorothy J. LaBerge 1925 - 2013 HOLYOKE - Dorothy "Dot" (O'Sullivan) LaBerge, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and great-aunt, passed away at the age of 87 on June 7, 2013 at Loomis House in Holyoke, MA. Dot was a caring teacher, whether in a two room school house in Vermont or at the dining room table with her four children and her husband of 62 years Arthur "Art" LaBerge. Her Irish blue eyes twinkled, she always had a kind word and easy, beautiful smile and she enjoyed telling or hearing a good story. She sewed her children's clothes, cheered them on from the sidelines and baked to satisfy her own sweet tooth as well as her loved ones'. She traveled the United States with her husband and was an expert hostess, whether a bridge game with friends or Thanksgiving meal with family. She conveyed her love through heartfelt ceramic and needlepoint creations, the days and nights she baby-sat her grandchildren and her wise, kind counsel. Dot was predeceased by her parents, Michael and Helen (Hadlock) O'Sullivan, her brother, John (Jack) O'Sullivan and her sister, Florence O'Sullivan. Dot was born in Springfield, educated at St. Thomas School, West Springfield, Cathedral High School, Springfield and Westfield State College. Dot and Art raised their children in East Longmeadow, Ma and West Chester, Pa. Dot is survived by her husband Art, daughter Katherine and her husband Thomas Haberlin of Longmeadow, Ma, son David and his wife Maritza of Gotha, Florida, son Robert and his wife Ellen of Syracuse, NY, son Richard and his wife Lynne of Newtown, Pa, her nephew Michael O'Sullivan and his wife Pam of Shrewsbury, Ma and grandchildren Kimberly and Kerry Haberlin, John, Matthew and Rebecca LaBerge, Christopher, Stephen and Marielle LaBerge, Nicole and Meredith LaBerge, great-grandson Jack LaBerge, great niece and nephew Julia and Jack O'Sullivan and cousin Eileen Worthing and her husband Jack of Palmer, Ma. Dot's family would like to thank her compassionate caregivers at Loomis House and the Holyoke VNA Hospice Life Care. Calling hours will be held Wednesday June 12, 2013 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, Holyoke, MA. Funeral Mass will be Thursday June 13, 2013 at 10:00 AM at Blessed Sacrament Church 1945 Northampton Street, Holyoke, Ma with burial in St. Thomas Cemetery, West Springfield, MA In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Loomis House Scholarship Fund, 298 Jarvis Avenue, Holyoke, MA 01040 or the Alzheimer's Association of Western Massachusetts, 264 Cottage Avenue, Springfield, MA 01104
