Dorothy Michalak Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 8, 2011.
Dorothy Michalak, 89, of Plymouth was called by the Lord Monday morning, Sept. 5, 2011.

She was born May 12, 1922, in Hanover, and was the daughter of the late Peter Paulik and Mary Derkash Paulik.

Dorothy worked at and was the co-owner with her late husband, Al, of Paulik's Furniture for 35 years.

Dorothy was a drum majorette at Plymouth High School and graduated in 1939. Upon graduation from Plymouth High School, Dorothy attended Susquehanna University, where she became the school's first head drum majorette.

Dorothy was a beautiful lady, both inside and out, right to the end. She was an extremely devoted mother and always made sure her sons attended Mass every Sunday. She also attended Mass for as long as she could. She loved the Lord and instilled the love for the Lord in her sons. Trying to be as fine a person has been a goal for them that will be tough to acheive. Dot liked to watch Catholic television and especially Mother Angelica; however, she did miss seeing Father Corapi later on.

We love you so much, Dot. XXXX

Dorothy was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Alexander, and her loving son, John.

Dot is survived by sons, Dr. Peter Michalak, Tuscon, Ariz.; and Attorney Al Michalak, Plymouth, with whom Dot resided; and grandsons, John Jr. and Peter Jr.

A private service will be held Saturday at S.J. Grontkowski Funeral Home, Plymouth, with Panachayda at 9:30 a.m. Divine Liturgy will be presided over by the Rev. Roman Petryshak and assisted by her cousin, Brother Augustine Paulik, at 10 a.m. in Ss. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church, Plymouth.

Interment will be in Ss. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church Parish Cemetery, Plymouth.

Memorial donations may be sent in Dorothy's name to Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 20 Nottingham St., Plymouth, PA 18651.

I dont know you; in fact Im from another state but Mrs. Michalak sounded like a wonderful person. And was not afraid to say she loved the Lord. Wish I could have known her.

Al and Pete and Family: I am very sorry about your mother's passing. She was a great lady and seemed so vibrant when I last saw her at my mother's wake in February 2010. Everyone will miss her. As I write, Plymouth is under flood evacuation order. My thoughts are with you. I will write on paper also. John Lopatto and Family "Lo".
