Mrs. Dorothy "Dot" Faye Ownbey, age 73, of Chatsworth, Georgia departed this life Tuesday, December 20, 2011 at the Hamilton Medical Center. Dot was born September 27, 1938 in Dalton, Georgia a daughter of the late Will and Ethel Greeson Walker. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Ownbey, brothers, Clyde and John Henry Walker, sisters, Elizabeth Legg and DeeEtte Kendrick. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Freddie and Cheryl Ownbey of Dalton, GA, Eddie and Sharon Ownbey of Calhoun, GA; daughters and son-in-law, Debbie Henderson of Chatsworth, GA, Rita Rowland of Dalton, GA, Teina and Thomas Elder of Chatsworth, GA; sisters, Sue Carr of Dalton, GA, Bill Rahn of Cypress, CA, Bonnie Davis of Chatsworth, GA, Cris Bennett of Dalton, GA; nine grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Special thanks to the staff of Dr. Monica Verma's office. Services to celebrate the life of "Dot" Ownbey will be held Friday, December 23, 2011 at 4:00 p.m. at the Melrose Chapel of Ponders Funeral Home with Reverend Ricky Spence officiating. She will be laid to rest beside her husband in the Harmony Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Steve Davis, Tim Davis, David McClure, Jerry Blankenship, Darel Ownbey and Bryan Ownbey serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the Melrose Chapel of Ponders Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Thursday.
