I did not know or ever meet Dorothy . . .I only know her through knowing her astonishingly wonderful son, Jim. What a gift she gave in the birthing and nurturing of Jim, both to me personally, and-- I say with real feeling-- what a gift she gave to the world, because his presence is that powerful and meaningful.

Dorothy was a remarkable mom. At her funeral, Sarah remembered "She taught me that when someone's different from you, you shouldn't make fun or laugh at them. You should try to understand them." We four children will always remember her with love.

Even though your Mom faced lots of difficult time in recent years, she always had a strong sense of how important her family was. She gave that family bond to all her kids. And even though I only knew her slightly, I could see where Jim (I don't know the other siblings much) got his great sense of humor and his determination. She will continue to be loved...

Dear Jim and Family,
We're sad to hear the news -- it's your loss, and our loss too. Dorothy will be missed dearly.
Dorothy had been like a mother and a friend to me, Yuzhi and our family. We were thinking about visiting her again some time next year. Alas, we will never have a chance to hold her warm hands again.
May her beautiful soul rest in eternal peace.

Dorothy was a noble woman who faced much adversity in life with grace and a great sense of humor. She loved her family fiercely and bragged of their accomplishments tirelessly.
