DOUG ASHBURN

Doug Ashburn BLUFF CITY, Tenn. Doug Ashburn, age 74, passed away Monday, Dec. 5, 2011 at his residence. He was a son of the late James Milton and Mary Alice Defriece Ashburn. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepmother, Zelma Thacker Ashburn; a brother, Robert Ashburn; and a sister, Viva Louise Ashburn. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1955-1963 on the USS Sierra, and retired from Strongwell Fiberglass Corp. in 1997 after 25 years of service. Survivors include his wife, Lillie Carol Golliher Ashburn of the home; one daughter, Tanya Ashburn Reeves and husband, Terry, of Lee Summit, Mo.; two granddaughters, Leslie Reeves Lohr and husband Dan of Gladstone, Mo., and Stephanie Reeves Johnson and husband, Kalan, of Overland Park, Kan.; one grandson, Nathan Tyler Reeves of Manhattan, Kan.; one great granddaughter, Emily Ann Lohr, Gladstone; one great grandson, Aidan Matthew Lohr of Gladstone; three brothers, Freddie Lee Ashburn and wife, Betty, of Bluff City, Wayne Ashburn of Bluff City, and Richard Bacon of Kingsport, Tenn.; two stepbrothers, Gale Thacker and wife, Jean, and William Thacker and wife, Georgia, all of Bluff City; several nieces and nephews; and two special sisters-in-law, Yvonne Rosenbaum and husband, Willie, and Joan Reeves and husband, Tommy. The funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 8, 2011 at Tetrick Funeral Home Bluff City Chapel with the Rev. Bill Reeves and the Rev. Danny Osborne officiating. Interment will follow in the Sunrise Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Tyler Reeves, Tommy Joe Reeves, Jermery Kellen, Steve Golliher, Conly Golliher and Tommy Reeves.
